The home run odds for all Yankees hitters receive a boost today when facing Baltimore Orioles righty Tomoyuki Sugano, who has allowed 28 home runs in 28 starts this season. Sugano’s home run issues have gotten worse over his last four starts, where he has allowed seven home runs, five of which have come at Camden Yards.
Sugano has allowed 19 home runs in 313 at-bats to left-handed hitters and nine home runs in 280 at-bats to righties. That had me deciding between Trent Grisham and Cody Bellinger as my best home run bet today, but I went with Grishman because of how hot he has been of late.
Since Aug. 20, Grisham has belted 12 home runs and driven in 25 runs. The 12 home runs are more than any other player in that span, while the RBI total is tied for second with today’s fellow best home run prediction, Salvador Perez.
Grisham may only be slashing .222/.300/.389 at Camden Yards this year, but a matchup with Sugano should help improve those numbers.
