August hasn't been kind to Crow-Armstrong, with the rising young outfielder slumping significantly to begin the month, much like the rest of the Cubs' offense.

The Cubs are averaging just 3.4 runs per game across eight August contests, and Crow-Armstrong's scuffling is central to those woes. He's plunged through the basement while slashing just .067/.097/.100 in August.

But the upside of targeting a player who's sputtering over a short period is it provides the opportunity to cash in when the bounce back is swift. Which is why now is a good time to remember PCA isn't far removed from a meteoric rise during July when he finished the month with a .308 batting average and .984 OPS.

Now he gets to shine under the Sunday Night Baseball spotlight in a rivalry matchup we dove deeper into as part of our Cubs vs. Cardinals prediction. Crow-Armstrong, who's a lefty and has hit 27 homers this season to sit tied for eighth leaguewide, benefits from significant platoon splits and the ability to demolish righties. He's posting a .914 OPS against righties compared to .636 against southpaws.

The All-Star will face another righty tonight in veteran Sonny Gray, whose four-seamer is getting tattooed to the tune of a .525 expected slugging.
