FedEx St. Jude Championship Odds & Power Rankings 2024: Scheffler (+400) Leads 1st Playoff Field
TPC Southwind in Memphis welcomes a 70-man field for the opening event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, with Scottie Scheffler (+390) and Xander Schauffele (+850) locked in as betting favorites by the FedEx St. Jude Championship odds from our best golf betting sites.
It's far from surprising to see Scheffler and Schauffele as this week's favorites to win outright. They've occupied those spots throughout much of the 2024 PGA Tour season and remain heavy favorites by the FedEx Cup odds as the PGA Tour's lone six-time winner and two-time major winner, respectively.
That said, TPC Southwind - and its copious water hazards - has a way of leveling the playing field.
This has helped produce two 60-1 winners in this event over the past three years. Who could emerge from this year's 70-man field to greatly improve their ranking in the FedEx Cup standings and ensure they'll be in the top 50 of the season-long race and head to next week's BMW Championship?
Lucas Glover is not back to defend last year's win in this event after failing to qualify for the FEC Playoffs.

FedEx St. Jude Championship picks: My first click
Sungjae Im (+4500)
Firmly among this week's tertiary tier of contenders, we're seeing great discrepancy in the odds for Im to win outright. Caesars has the South Korean star at +4500 for a return of $450 in profit on a winning $10 bet. DraftKings has market-low odds of +3500 all bettors will want to avoid.
Prior to a disappointing T-41 finish in last week's Wyndham Championship, Im tied for seventh in the British Open and for fourth in the Genesis Scottish Open. He enters this week at ninth in the FEC standings and is safely though to the BMW Championship.
He's looking for his first PGA Tour victory since 2021 and will look to claim it at a venue where he has averaged 1.45 true strokes gained on the field per round through four appearances in this event. He tied for sixth last year while averaging 1.45 strokes gained: tee-to-green.
Im is fourth among qualified golfers with 2.55 strokes gained: total across everyone's last 20 measured rounds. He's been greatly improved with his putter of late and we're safe to assume a bounce back in his regularly elite iron play from last week's flop at Sedgefield Country Club.

FedEx St. Jude Championship favorite
Scottie Scheffler (+400)
Scheffler is given a 20.00% implied probability of winning this week by the market-best +400 odds available through BetMGM. That would return an extra $7 in profit on a winning $10 wager vs. the +330 odds available elsewhere.
A six-time PGA Tour winner - and Olympic gold medalist - this year, Scheffler carries odds of -130 (56.52% implied probability) via Caesars to win the FedEx Cup.
He has never finished better than 14th in six professional trips to TPC Southwind despite the fact his elite iron play should be well suited to the venue and its hazards. Putting has often held him back at this course, as it did during the British Open en route to his T-7 finish in the year's final major.
Schauffele is available with better than double the odds this weeks and would be my preferred choice if you're intending to back one of the top two names on the oddsboard.

TPC Southwind has long been a PGA Tour venue. Before securing the FedEx St. Jude Championship as the first event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, it hosted the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational from 2019-2021. It hosted the FedEx St. Jude Classic (and tournaments by several other names) from 1958-2018.
TPC Southwind is best know for its number of water hazards, which regularly claim more balls - and penalty strokes - than any other stop on the PGA Tour schedule. This has helped lead to exciting finishes with each of the last two editions of the tournament going to a playoff.
