Golf bettors get a respite from Scottie Scheffler this week as we make our best Zurich Classic picks based on this week's golf odds from our best golf betting sites for the team event at TPC Louisiana in New Orleans.

Scottie Scheffler can't win if he's not in the field, right?

Following the weather-delayed RBC Heritage - and another dominant Scheffler performance for his fourth victory of 2024 - PGA Tour golfers team up for this week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans at TPC Louisiana with Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele set as the betting favorites across our best sports betting sites.

Don't expect this week's results to have too great an impact on the PGA Championship odds. For this event, 80 teams of two will rotate through better ball (first and third rounds) and alternate shot (second and fourth rounds), with a cut made after 36 holes. Davis Riley and Nick Hardy return to defend their 2023 title at TPC Louisiana.

Here are our best 2024 Zurich Classic picks based on this week's PGA Tour odds.

Zurich Classic picks

Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin to win

Canadians Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin were the runners-up in the 2023 Zurich Classic, finishing two strokes back of the winning team. Since then, Taylor has won the 2023 RBC Canadian Open and the 2024 WM Phoenix Open. They're the top-ranked Canadian golfers in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), and both enter the week inside the top 50.

On track to represent their country in the summer Olympics in Paris, France, Taylor and Hadwin can take a major step toward cementing that bid with a victory in New Orleans.

Both played in the 2024 Masters, with Hadwin besting his now-playing partner.

How to bet on golf

To bet on golf effectively, understand the various bet types available and how to evaluate player performance. Start by familiarizing yourself with common bets like outright winners, each-way bets (covering both a win and a top finish), head-to-head matchups, and prop bets for specific tournament events, such as hole-in-one occurrences or player performances on certain holes.

Once you've chosen your preferred bet types, conduct thorough research on players, course conditions, recent form, and other relevant factors that may impact outcomes. Consider player statistics, recent tournament performances, course history, and any injuries or changes in form that could affect a player's chances of success. This information will help you make informed betting decisions and increase your chances of success in golf betting.
