It might seem strange to sports bettors that Alabama was excluded from the College Football Playoff – but there's nothing odd about the Crimson Tide listed as favorites for their first Sugar Bowl appearance since 2018. Read on for our top Sugar Bowl college football odds as Alabama tangles with Kansas State.
A 10-2 season wasn't enough to get Nick Saban's crew into NCAA football's final four, but it might be difficult for bettors to get away from an Alabama team that is 4-0-1 ATS in its previous five bowl games. That said, Kansas State was an impressive 9-3-1 ATS for the season and is on a four-game cover streak.

Alabama vs. Kansas State Spread
The majority of sportsbooks have Alabama -7 with -110 odds attached to both the favored Crimson Tide and underdog Kansas State at FanDuel, DraftKings and Caesars. PointsBet has the best odds on the Wildcats, rolling with +7 (+110) as of Saturday morning.
It was a tale of two ATS seasons for the Crimson Tide, who opened the season with covers in four of their first five games but stumbled to a 2-5 against-the-spread mark over their final seven outings (with the two covers coming by a combined three points). And while the Crimson Tide have been virtually automatic in recent bowl games, it might be difficult to ignore their uninspiring recent form.
This is especially true if you put much stock in how the Wildcats finished the season. Three covers during their season-ending four-game streak came in victories by 8.5 points or more, and they were one of only two Big 12 teams with nine or more covers on the season.
Alabama vs. Kansas State Over/Under
The Sugar Bowl total of 57 is live at a slight majority of sports betting sites, though there are some 55.5s and 56s floating around, as well.
'Bama converted the Under in five of 12 games, thanks (as usual) to a stout defense that ranked ninth in the nation in points against (18.0 per game). The Crimson Tide also closed with three Unders in their final five games and an Over during that stretch that actually finished below the total in regulation time (a 32-31 OT loss to LSU).
Kansas State boasted a 6-7 O/U record in 2022, with all six of those Overs coming in the final 10 games. That said, the Wildcats have been a solid late-season Under play in recent years, going 2-7 O/U in their last nine December games.
