So, why do we expect him to throw for nearly 80 more yards than the Wolverines allowed on average in 2023?
Michigan's offense is going to have so much trouble with the Longhorns’ defense that its defense is going to be exhausted for the majority of the game.
Ewers is talented enough to take advantage of a tired defense no matter how good it is.
Last season, Ewers threw for more than 240 yards in nine of his 12 games. That includes a 349-yard performance against the Alabama Crimson Tide. He’s proven himself against top competition, and the game script will work in his favor.

Despite his great yardage numbers in 2023, Ewers ended the year with just 21 passing touchdowns. He threw just one touchdown pass in six of his games, and he threw more than two touchdown passes just three times. Against the Wolverines' defense, his ceiling isn’t high.
However, we also need to remember that the Longhorns' starting running back last season was Jonathon Brooks.
Brooks ended the year with 10 rushing touchdowns. Without a back to steal touchdowns from him, Ewers is going to have an easier time finding the endzone this season. Defensive fatigue will again come into play, as Ewers throws for two, or maybe even three, scores.

Ewers threw an interception against Colorado State in Week 1, and the Longhorns have a chance to pick up a huge statement win, so I don’t expect them to take their foot off the gas in this one.
