⬆️ Preston Stone Over 160.5 passing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

It’s a tough matchup for Northwestern, but quarterback Preston Stone is getting undervalued. Stone racked up more than 160.5 passing yards during a blowout loss to Tulane in Week 1 and 245 yards in an easy Week 2 victory. Let’s lock in the Over on 160.5 for -114 (53.3%) to secure an $8.77 profit on a $10 bet.

The game script should also be favorable for Stone. Northwestern will likely need to throw early and often to stay in the game as a 27.5-point underdog. The Wildcats currently rank 12th in passing play percentage (59.1%).

The outlook is changing in Evanston. It’s the second year of offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Zach Lujan’s tenure. He upped Northwestern’s passing play percentage from 50.3% in 2023 to 54.4% in 2024.

It’s clear that he wants to keep the ball in his quarterback’s hands. Look for that to help Stone go Over this number on Saturday.

⬇️ Dante Moore Under 236.5 passing yards (-115) ⭐⭐

On the other side of the matchup, Oregon quarterback Dante Moore enters with his team as a massive favorite, which has been the case during each of the last two weeks. He only threw 23 times against FCS Montana State during Oregon's first game, and those passes generated 213 yards. Then in the second he only recorded 21 attempts for 266 yards.

Moore’s passing yardage prop sits at 236.5 this week, squarely in the middle of that number. But there are signs his significant Week 2 game versus Oklahoma State was an outlier. Included in his 18 completions were Jeremiah McClellan's 51-yard catch and a 65-yard grab from Dakorien Moore. Those broken plays may not recur this Saturday, especially against a healthier defense.

Without more passing attempts, it’ll be tough for Moore to go over this number barring lots of busted plays. I recommend buying Moore to stay under 236.5 passing yards for -115 (53.5%) at FanDuel. Those odds are good enough for you to make an $8.70 profit on a $10 bet.

⬇️ Griffin Wilde Under 62.5 receiving yards (-115) ⭐⭐

Griffin Wilde, Northwestern’s top receiver, has taken the scene by storm. He transferred from FCS South Dakota State, where the wideout racked up 1,154 receiving yards on 16.3 yards per catch last campaign. Now he's already tallied 158 receiving yards on 14.4 yards per catch. He went over his prop total of 62.5 in both games.

But with Stone’s passing yardage prop set to 160.5 and Wilde’s receiving yardage prop at 62.5, the best sports betting sites are implying the receiver will be on the other end for almost 40% of the signal-caller's production. I don’t buy that. While I’m optimistic about Stone’s passing production, Oregon’s defense won’t let the clear-cut best Northwestern receiver cook them.

I expect Oregon’s defense to lock in on the pass-catcher, opening up opportunities for others to make their mark. Back Wilde to stay Under the lofty number of 62.5 for -115 (53.5%) at Caesars, which will make you an $8.70 profit on a $10 bet.

How do college football player props work?

Player props are wagers on individual performances rather than the outcome of the game. Common props include passing yards, rushing yards, receiving yards, and touchdown scorers. For example, if a QB’s passing yards line is set at 250.5, you can bet the Over (251-plus yards) or Under (250 or fewer yards). You can also bet on if a specific player will score a touchdown in the entire game, the first or last touchdown, and more college football odds markets.
