It's essentially a win-and-in scenario in Eugene, Ore., when USC heads to Autzen Stadium to take on the Ducks in the College GameDay matchup this week. And while Trojan's star Makai Lemon is the pass catcher in this matchup who is routinely compared to NFL stars, another pass catcher is suiting up on the other side that could be drafted before him this April.
Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq has been the X-factor in Will Stein's offense this season as a key difference maker as a blocker in the run game and a complete mismatch as Dante Moore's favorite red zone target. Last week, Sadiq had a career-high eight targets against Minnesota, and it led to Moore turning in one of the best games of his career. He went 27-for-30 for 306 yards and two scores against the Golden Gophers.
Given Moore's efficiency and productivity this season when targeting his tight end (he has a 138.7 NFL QB rating when throwing to Sadiq), I expect Stein to lean heavily on his star pass catcher against USC. The Trojans are ranked outside the top 35 in defensive SP+ and have given up eight passing TDs in four games against ranked opponents this season.
With Moore ranked top 10 in the country in both big-time throw rate (7.2%) and adjusted completion rate (80.9%), the Ducks' passing game is the best USC has faced all season. And Sadiq, who plays 49.1% of his snaps in the slot and ranks No. 13 in the country in yards per route run among tight ends (2.11), is the key to it all.
If Sadiq scores his seventh touchdown of the season, and his fourth in his last four games, a $10 bet pays a $13 profit.
