I'm backing the undefeated team in my Miami vs. Indiana prediction for the College Football Playoff National Championship, which takes place on Monday, Jan. 19 (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN), from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.

Indiana, the No. 1 seed, is the 7.5-point betting favorite by the college football championship odds. They face a team many didn't think would earn an at-large bid in the CFP. While Miami's run has been nothing short of incredible, I expect the more consistent Hoosiers to culminate their historic run with another dominant performance.

Indiana -7.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

If Indiana wins the championship, this Hoosiers squad will go down as one of the best of all time, which is why I expect Curt Cignetti's team to beat Miami by more than a touchdown. Indiana is 5-0 ATS against ranked teams this season, and has outscored its two CFP opponents 94 to 25.

The Hoosiers are the only team in the country ranked top three on offense and defense by SP+, and the first team Miami has seen that has a comparably dominant offensive line.

Plus, the Hoosiers have the clear QB advantage with Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza.

  • Moneyline: Miami +260 | Indiana -325

  • Over/Under: Over 48.5 (-110) | Under 48.5 (-110)

Miami vs. Indiana line movement

Indiana opened as a 7.5-point betting favorite against Miami after dismantling its first two CFP opponents. However, I don't expect this line to move too much, given that this is effectively a home game for the Hurricanes and the brand-name recognition that Miami carries as a five-time national champion.

While more casual fans could be backing Miami in a big way, Indiana's historic season should help keep the Hoosiers favored by at least a touchdown against the No. 10 seed. I'd take Indiana to cover at anything under -8.5. And I don't see this game's total shifting much, with both teams employing future NFL quarterbacks and sporting top-10 defenses.
