FIU vs. Liberty Prediction, Picks & Odds For Today

We expect FIU to be in for a tormenting night in Lynchburg when they take on Liberty, the Group of Five College Football Playoff bid hopefuls.

Liberty is incredibly well rested entering tonight's game against FIU. They haven't played since Sept. 21 after their Sept. 28 game against Appalachian State was cancelled.

Tonight's contest kicks off at 7 p.m. ET from Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Va. The spread moved fairly significantly in the lead up to the game. While our prediction backs Liberty at -19.5, FanDuel now has the Flames as the 16.5-point favorite.

Liberty, among the College Football Playoff odds favorites, has Kaidon Salter under center, one of the top C-USA quarterbacks. He's so highly touted that he entered the season as one of the G5's top Heisman Trophy odds contenders.

Meanwhile, FIU is 2-3 and have lost two of their last three, and they got thrashed by the Flames 38-6 at Pitbull Stadium last season. Liberty are the prohibitive favorites across all of our best college football betting sites

FIU vs. Liberty against the spread prediction: Week 7

Liberty to cover the spread: -19.5 (-105) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Liberty vs. FIU opening odds:

  • FIU: +20 (-110)
  • Liberty: -20 (-110)

The most notable thing FIU has done this season is sell its stadium naming rights to Mr. 305 himself to rename its home field Pitbull Stadium. The second most notable thing? Unveiling these 'Vice U' uniforms.

This is an unserious football program that handed Monmouth its first-ever FBS win a few weeks ago. Head coach Mike MacIntyre is 10-19 since taking over the program in 2022, while Jamey Chadwell won more games in his first season at Liberty last year (13).

FIU's defense is one of the worst in the country - 112th in SP+ - and stands no chance against Salter, Quinton Cooley, and Treon Sibley. Those three have the Flames 42nd in SP+ on offense.

And it's not as if the Panthers are capable of keeping up. They scored just 17 on a horrific Louisiana Tech program two weeks ago and are 109th in EPA per dropback and 98th in EPA per rush.

Liberty should win this game by several scores, I'm thinking 45-17. If they do, a $10 bet pays a $9.52 profit.

FIU vs. Liberty prop pick for Week 7

Quinton Cooley 2+ touchdowns (+210) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Honestly, I'm surprised the odds are this long for Quinton Cooley to score twice against the Panthers - this price pays a $21 profit on a $10 winning bet.

FIU is 120th in EPA per rush on defense while Liberty is 38th in EPA per rush on offense. Chadwell's spread option attack gives Cooley plenty of opportunities for explosive plays and he's sixth in the G5 in 15-plus-yard runs (7) and 10th in yards after contact per carry (4.38), per PFF.

The Panthers allow 186 rushing yards per game and have given up the 11th-most rushing TDs this season (13). Cooley will be like a fireball running through this defense, causing tacklers to timber on contact.

Best odds: +210 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 32.26%
