My college football player props for Week 5 cover several games involving AP top-25 teams, including No. 3 Notre Dame taking on Bill Belichick and North Carolina, as well as the ranked-vs.-ranked SEC showdown between No. 8 Florida and No. 25 Missouri.
My college football Week 5 predictions include a first-time prop wager this season: lumping two players' anytime touchdown odds together and expecting one of them to score first in a game.
It’s been two straight profitable weeks for this column with a combined 5-1 record and plus-3.67 units of profit, and I look to keep that momentum going with this three-pack of plays.

CJ Carr Under 1.5 passing touchdowns (+122 via bet365)
North Carolina is playing the kind of defense one would expect of a Belichick-coached team. The Tar Heels have recorded 10 sacks, and their 3.33 sacks-per-game average ranks ninth nationally and second in the ACC. They get even tougher in the red zone, ranking fourth nationally in red zone defense while allowing opponents to score on just 62.5% of trips inside the 20-yard line.
Of the five scores North Carolina has yielded in the red zone, just two have been touchdowns, as it has forced two turnovers on downs and a missed field goal. Carr is tied for 21st nationally with nine passing touchdowns and has multiple passing scores in three of four games, but I expect the Tar Heels to put the most pressure on the signal-caller that he has seen through five games.
📡 SBR Edge: Mistake-free football
North Carolina likely won't help Notre Dame out by committing penalties, especially on the defensive side of the ball. The Tar Heels' 13 penalties are the third fewest among FBS teams.
Jamal Roberts or Jadan Baugh to score the first touchdown (+120 via DraftKings)
The Florida-Missouri matchup has a projected total of 57.5 points, which means we should see plenty of fireworks. I’m intrigued by this either player first touchdown scorer wager at DraftKings, as we’re getting two players at -650 and -400 anytime touchdown odds (86.67% and 80% implied odds, respectively) at plus-money odds to simply be the first to cross the goal line.
Jadan Baugh’s 11 rushing touchdowns through four games are already more than Florida as a team scored all of last season. He also has multiple rushing touchdowns in five straight games dating back to last season. That’s the longest streak by any SEC player since Derrick Henry in 2015, and the second-longest by any power-conference running back in the playoff era.
Roberts has added three rushing touchdowns (one in each of the first three games), and the best part about this wager is that we’re covering our base with a player from each team to score the game’s first touchdown.
Dezmen Roebuck Over 6.5 receptions (-114 via DraftKings)
Washington’s Dezmen Roebuck has been a model of consistency through four games this year. He has recorded at least seven receptions in every game with a season-high of nine, and his 7.5 receptions per game average ranks him seventh among FBS pass catchers.
Roebuck’s nine receptions and 121 yards in the win over Eastern Washington were both career-highs, and he has built off a standout freshman campaign last year when he became the first Washington true freshman to record 100 receiving yards in a game since 2017.
This game projects to be a track meet against the high-scoring USC offense, as the Trojans have a leaky defense that ranks 108th in EPA per play and outside the top 130 in PFF’s tackling grade.
