Navy vs. Air Force Prediction: Week 5 Odds, Picks & Best Bet
Last Updated: October 2, 2026 8:00 AM EDT • 2 minute read X Social Google News Link
My Navy vs. Air Force prediction focuses on the low-scoring nature of service academy games. Navy and Air Force feature two of the best rushing attacks in the nation, but I expect both to struggle Saturday against defenses used to seeing the style that each offense runs.
Air Force is a 3.5-point betting favorite, with kickoff from Falcon Stadium at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado set for noon ET (CBS).

Under 46.5 (-110 via BetMGM)
Navy and Air Force are tied for the second-most rushing yards in the nation, with each program averaging 333.67 yards per game. Meanwhile, Navy has attempted just 42 passes, while Air Force has attempted 35, meaning the clock is always going to be running in this game.
While both of these teams are known for picking up chunk yards, I don't expect as much success from either side against defenses that are used to practicing against the style of offense they're about to face. This is especially true for Air Force, a team that is averaging 5.21 yards per carry but is about to face a Navy defense allowing just 2.01 yards per rush attempt.
📡 SBR Edge
Five of the last six meetings between these two programs have featured 47 or fewer points. In all five of those games, at least one team finished with 10 or fewer points.
Navy's struggling secondary won't matter
Navy has lost back-to-back games mostly because the pass defense has struggled. Navy is allowing 255.7 passing yards per game, which ranks 122nd in the nation. The eight passing touchdowns the Midshipmen have allowed are tied for the 17th-most in the country.
But none of that matters against an Air Force offense that ranks 134th in passing yards per game. Liam Szarka has completed just 48.1% of his passes and has thrown two interceptions. The best way to beat Navy is to throw against the defense, but Air Force simply isn't capable of exploiting that weakness.
Score prediction: Navy 20, Air Force 13
