BYU vs. Utah Same Game Parlay: SGP Picks for Nov. 7

Can Utah’s home success carry the Utes through their biggest game of the season in the Holy War at Rice-Eccles?

My BYU vs. Utah same-game parlay views the Holy War as something of a must-win for No. 9 BYU based on where the Cougars landed in the initial CFP rankings. However, No. 3 Utah can essentially punch its ticket with a rivalry win at home Saturday.

Kickoff from Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City is set for noon ET (ABC). Utah is a 4.5-point betting favorite as part of our college football predictions.

Best BYU vs. Utah SGP & parlay picks

Utah -4.5 (-108)

Utah is one of eight FBS teams with a perfect mark in home games against the spread, as the Utes are 5-0 ATS at Rice-Eccles. This 4.5-point spread isn’t lofty enough for me to stray from a belief that Utah will continue the trend, as Devon Dampier is an X-factor at quarterback.

BYU ranks 33rd in FPI’s adjusted defensive efficiency and hasn’t been dominant enough against mediocre offenses in recent weeks for me to trust the Cougars against Utah’s 12th-ranked adjusted offensive efficiency.

Devon Dampier anytime TD scorer (+110)

Devon Dampier is a big reason why I like Utah in this game. I notice the success that UCF dual-threat quarterback Keyone Jenkins had against this BYU defense, running for 35 yards and a touchdown in addition to a huge passing day.

Dampier has scampered for five touchdowns on the season, including three in his last four games. His elite speed could make a difference in the red zone if BYU falters defensively to give up even the tiniest sliver of a running lane, so with plus-money odds on his TD scorer prop at DraftKings, I like the value for our parlay.

Devon Dampier 42+ rushing yards (-119)

Our projection that Dampier would score on the ground contributes to what I believe will be productivity for his rushing total in this matchup.

Dampier’s standard rushing total is 46.5 yards at FanDuel, but 42+ at DraftKings. This is a rushing line that he has cleared four times this season, including doing so in three of his last four games.

BYU vs. Utah weather

It’ll be a chilly one in Salt Lake City, but nothing about the forecast should impact the play from a betting perspective. The temperature at kickoff is expected to be 44 degrees, with 2 mph winds and a 0% chance of precipitation.
