Plenty has changed since Utah opened at -17 on the lookahead line. Utah QB Cam Rising is out for the year, while BYU is unbeaten and resides in the College Football Playoff odds as the Big 12 Champion.
Although Provo, Utah, is just 44 miles from Salt Lake City, this environment will be the toughest that the Cougars have faced. But they’re built for it.
Road well traveled
BYU is 4-0 against the spread in road games, posting the seventh-best average ATS road margin in the nation (+12.6).
Utah’s entire profile shifts with Isaac Wilson at quarterback. The Utes have averaged just 10.3 points per game over his last three starts. That doesn’t bode well against a BYU team that has scored 34+ points in six straight games and ranks inside the top 25 in adjusted offensive and defensive efficiencies.

Jake Retzlaff Over 1.5 passing touchdowns (+160) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
BYU QB Jake Retzlaff has cleared 200+ passing yards in seven out of eight games, so while Over 189.5 yards is the side I’d choose if forced into playing his yardage prop, I don’t love the value against a Utah defense allowing only 183.6 passing yards per game.
I’d rather attack Retzlaff Over 1.5 passing touchdowns with plus-money odds for a more favorable value proposition.
Utes aren’t impervious to passing scores
Utah has held opposing passers below 200 yards in three of its last four games but has allowed Over 1.5 passing touchdowns in four of its last six. Retzlaff has thrown for multiple touchdowns in six straight.
