Super Bowl LVI bettors are buying into the narrative the writers of "The Simpsons" are capable of predicting the future.

After all, their foresight has hit in the past – Donald Trump serving as President of the United States, likely being the most notable.

However, much of the current Simpsons-related Super Bowl fascination is fueled by an NFL Memes tweet featuring three screenshots from different episodes.

Darren Rovell from Action Network outlined numerous inaccuracies about the NFL Memes' tweet, and The Independent's Jacob Stolworthy posited succinctly:

"The stills are taken from episodes of the show, and Homer really did get "Go Bengals" written on his stomach; the headline hinting at a Bengals win was added in by the person who created the post."

"This makes yet another example of a Simpsons moment being manipulated in the hope that it'll convince people the show eerily predicted future events correctly."

So, here's the kicker…

With bettors rushing to back the Bengals, the correct final score posted in the meme, and anything Simpsons-related in between, books now have severe liabilities on their hands.

2022 Super Bowl Betting Guide

Perhaps, more than anything, this highlights the entertainment and social aspect – and value – of sports betting developing hand-in-hand with legalization. This further begs the question, is the casual and responsible bettor more interested in chasing a narrative than a profit?

Seasoned and professional gamblers can mock, but a growing unknown populace is looking for action, and bookmakers will need to adjust accordingly. There's already ample evidence that novelty bets are thriving, after all.

Still, bettors who are selective, patient, and calculated will almost certainly prove to continue profiting in the long run because edges will present themselves because of the response to the unknown.
