Sports data supplier Statscore has entered the prediction market space by signing a three-year agreement with Kalshi.
Under the deal, Statscore will provide live scoring and statistical feeds throughout the NFL, NCAA football, NBA, MLB, NHL, and Formula 1. The deal will enable Kalshi to add real-time information on its site, enabling the trading of sports outcomes during live play.
As one of the best prediction markets, Kalshi emphasized the importance of offering accurate and in-depth coverage to increase user engagement. The company's Head of Corporate Development, Sara Slane, said Statscore's solution gives traders the ability to follow on-field events while managing contracts, improving the overall platform experience.
"By integrating real-time statistics and advanced analytics into Kalshi's platform, we are enabling a level of precision and engagement that redefines how users experience sports trading content," added Statscore VP of Sales George Fotev.
The Kalshi agreement comes as the platform strengthens its sports offering, following the launch of NFL parlay-style contracts that contributed to trading volumes surpassing $400 million during the league's opening week.
NFL season drives record activity on Kalshi
The opening week of the NFL season has generated trading activity on Kalshi at a scale comparable to its presidential election markets. The site saw $441 million in volume from the kickoff on September 4 through the first Sunday of games.
Nearly $200 million of that came from Sunday's events, which underscores the role football plays in fueling user engagement.
Not everyone is happy with the outcome, however, as California Tribes were seeking an injunction against the site.
The increase followed the company's introduction of new NFL-focused products, including futures, single-game markets, and prop-style contracts. In advance of the season, Kalshi self-certified several products with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, allowing it to offer parlay-style contracts resembling those on regulated sportsbooks.
The firm's marketing has mirrored sportsbook language, promoting multi-outcome opportunities framed in betting terms.
NFL imagery use raises concerns
Kalshi's recent promotional efforts have included social media ads featuring NFL team logos, player images, and league trademarks without obtaining the necessary permissions. Polymarket, another prediction market preparing for a US launch, has also incorporated league-related names and imagery in its international app without approval.
In one recent commercial, Kalshi employed the logos of the San Francisco 49ers, the Seattle Seahawks, and photos of quarterback Brock Purdy and running back Kenneth Walker III. The commercial advertised Kalshi's odds during the Week 1 game with the slogan "Bet on football legally."
Some other commercials used the NFL's trademark directly, with one specifically mentioning the Super Bowl, which the league has long defended strongly. Polymarket has similarly referenced NFL team names and included pictures of several players in its app, though without official agreements.
A comparable dispute occurred last year when the Major League Baseball Players Association sued several sportsbooks for unauthorized use of player images in promotions.
