Was just hoping maybe 2 of 3 would hit. Troicki had his chances. Scheepers I took simply because she's not without talent on clay and I don't think Kvitova should be that large a favorite on clay against most people. Didn't pan out, but I thought it was worth a shot.

Yeah I rarely like to back Cilic, but with Del Potro's hip & playing another plus money play - figured at least a split would profit.

1st match up in Madrid to Flo-donis aka Feliciano Lopez, Federer just about lost it today. Granted Lopez has been in the form of his life on clay in the last couple weeks, but this is a guy Roger would have beaten easily in the past. Think his scheduling is to blame this time around more perhaps than his form - three sets with all tie breaks isn't piss poor, but not playing anything since mid-April ... Fed needs to be playing every other tournament at least. Can't get by without form/consistency at this stage of his career.That being said, his draw will enable him to move on at least one more round. Malisse will not beat him on clay. Soderling potentially after that could be fun if Soderling can get his act together.

My instincts today were pretty good - they said don't play much. I didn't like much & the obvious ones didn't offer real good payouts. Only one I really kicked myself on was Goerges. Liked her, but talked myself off since she just beat Woz.

Kvitova has been dominant this week. She's got the power game to trouble Cibulkova & her serve is far superior. Cibulkova is very talented, but this surface is playing fairly quick and that gives Kvitova an edge I think.

Thank you EP was thinking of hedging my bet have her left in a parley with Beluchi(won),after reading in some swedish forums many like chibulkova and the price keep raising on kvitova but wont do it now its all or nothing hope it hits

Kvitova finally got it. She tried hard to choke, but Cibulkova choked harder on-serve in the 3rd. Roger wins in straights. Nice parlay winner for us.

The Lowdown: Davydenko is in better form since the dirt swing. His last loss was excusable and somewhat expected probably after winning the week prior in Munich. Troicki is not a dazzling dirt player, but he's competent. Slower surface in Rome than last week's fast Madrid courts. May favor Davydenko's return game, but his serve is still always questionable. Starace over Dolgopolov because all reports are that Dolgopolov is still suffering from a long standing health issue possibly. That has certainly shown in his clay form this Spring as he's 0-3.
