Very well stated Mr O. Mertens is one of those players that does very well against players ranked around or below her, but very poorly against the top players. That’s why the line is what it is. If she had a little better history against the top players the line would be close to even, based on current form.

Yep couldn’t agree more. And now you guys have me all excited for tennis already today. My work isn’t going to appreciate that as it could lead to a lack of production on my end.

Mertens is someone that always fights so I highly doubt she lays down but she hasn’t faired well historically against top ranked players like Osaka in the past. And Osaka did handle her in their last match (rather easily).

Not going to talk you off a near +140 dog that is going to fight for you but just pointing out some counter points. I have the line near correct so would be a no play for me but as I tell most people if you have conviction and a angle in your mind that you think is valid and the right side you play it. There are multiple ways to skin a cat in this business - numbers, analytics, gut, feel... etc. no one way is right and no one way is the only way to victory.

If you like the side play it but never bet beyond your means. 15k is a lot of money but I don’t know your standard bet size either way good luck if you play it!! I’ll be tuning in as much as I can during work ha!

All that being said if you told me I had to take a side I would take Mertens!
This is very well stated and appreciated. It's the gut and the fact - like you said - she will fight down 0-5 no matter what. That's what makes my money comfortable on it. I love the value. Typical bet size is $5k. It's a 3X play for me. This tournament has been very, very nice to me so it's freerolling in a way.

BOL to you. Bet is going in! Let's go Mertens!

Ugh couldn’t get that 2nd set tiebreak to go your way.. mertens should Have won that 2nd set Imo. Thought she was better player just couldn’t get the break points she needed then lost in the always coin flip tiebreaker. Really wish that would have gone to 3 sets. Better luck next time !

I would love to have taken RBA over Raonic. Now what? Does Raonic have a chance? Not with Djokovic's return I don't think.

Djoko has serious physical problems in today match, dont know if he will be on optimal conditions tomorrow, he even couldnt attend the coference after the match.
So im doubtly to bet this match, if not i will be confident on Djoko victory.

If he's not fit enough, he'll withdraw.
If he shows up, he gets this as a prelude to his winning the US Open.

Agree. I have it as I’ll wait and see if I can get a good price on Djok live (seeing if he physically looks alright). If I never get a good number I will pass but I can’t see backing Raonic here preflop given the dominance that Djok has put on display in the past. This is a match that’s almost impossible to bet pre flop In my opinion.

Basically it’s a wait and see. (if Djok looks good and I can get good number I’ll jump)

    Otherwise it’s just a pass.

Just my opinion. Good luck either way guys! About to settle in to some serious tennis here soon cheers!

He's getting ass whooped. Had him 2-0 on a parlay.
Intuition said to not go big, so I'm not that upset.

First off not much on the futures board I took a shot on due to the lack of knowing form it’s kind of like going in blind for the most part:.

Foolish to bet against Clijsters. Even if you win. She is not someone you'd want to oppose in a match like this... especially with Alexandrova and and as a favourite.

Fail to see the logic here unless you haven't followed tennis for very long.

Alexandrova a more than capable hardcourt player. She has a couple matches under her belt since the layoff. (Which is key imo) Beat Rybakina and then lost to McHale but Had her serve going the 2nd set of that one.

Everyone assuming Clijsters is just going to show up 8 years later and win. It would be a nice story but I’ll take the other side and if she beats me then I’ll tip my hat.

I think I’m getting the much better player at this point in time at a discounted price. But trust me I’ve been wrong plenty times before. Either way good luck!

Good luck to you too bud. Btw you need to do your research a little better because Kim has played quite a few matches at the World Team Tennis comp. It may be an exhibition but they were playing for keeps, and Clijsters went undefeated.. beating Kenin and Collins along the way. I watched her in most of those matches and she looks good. Very good. Arguably she has played every bit as much tennis as Alexandrova in the very recent past.

She is already in the Hall of Fame and absolutely deserves her spot there. She is one in a billion.

I just found this btw. Gives you an insight and reminder into the kind of player she is. This lockdown period served no one better than Kim. Now everyone starts with very little recent play.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JU4ptURqi-0

**Edit. Btw I have $200 on her to make the final. $50 @ odds of 126. $150 at odds of 100. So obviously I'm a big believer in her ability, movement and tennis IQ haha.

I’m plenty aware that she played in those but abbreviated matches but I don’t know how much I can take from that. I’m not going to say I know more than you on this player as if you are a big fan you probably know way more than me. I’m trying to follow the entire tour among other sports.

My angle is I get a very competitive hardcourt player in alexandrova who has a couple Full Matches under her belt since the pandemic break. I just think people and the price are suggesting Clijsters waltz in and returns as if it was 10 years ago and I just don’t think that happens.

All that being said it’s a wide open field so a couple of the prices you have above are very nice.

Either way should be a fun match to watch. Good luck!

I’m doing this all in good fun and also bc you told em I need to do better research.

But I mentioned the serve of alexandrova and the fact if the match doesn’t end fast then Clijsters likely to slow down. I think those two things couldn’t have been more on point. The big serve of Alexandrova kept her in it enough to let Clijsters hit a massive wall. She could barely toss the ball up by the third set. Those massive big time Strokes aren’t going to last long with the condition she’s in.. She’s a HOF but She’s not anywhere near in shape to compete in the WTA... no matter how much talent you still can’t get off the couch and beat the worlds elite players at the age of 37. Either way best of luck the rest of the way!

It's not bad capping. It's just the way it's going. If it were down to bad capping, your YTD record would look different.
