Betfred.uk confiscated my 1500 pounds - need help
    Hello Everybody,

My first post here, but I am on scene for a long time. Anyway, my issue is against UK based company Betfred, which 1,5 year ago suspended my account and took away all of my funds. Their reason is that one of the game I played - some russian 2 div football - was found sucspicious and they started "investigation" - with no frame time of closing the case.

And here is my problem - Betfred.uk dont want to hear about anything until IBIA will not finish their check, but I wonder HOW they want to do this since 1,5 years passed already and they did nothing and now we have a war there?

I tried with IBAS, Gambling Commission, and IBIA - no success and with IBIA or IBAS no even a single respond - which keep me a bit frustrated because IBAS is the last one to whom I can address my complain to (apart from a court ofc). I do not want to escalate this case to the court yet, so maybe here I will find a friendly soul, who could advice me how to convince Betfred that they are checking a wrong person and give the money back or at least these coming from other games about which there were no issue?

Thank you for any ideas/ advices!

    Stop betting on fixed matches.

    That should work.

@Alfie White, dont measure other people by your own yard-stick please. I have got to know that something could be wrong after the game was over. So far after 1,5 year Betfred did not provide me any proof that it is actually so.

Sure thing mate, just keep your balls out of random 18th league division games with 50% ROI and you won't get shafted by the bookies.

In other words, you shouldn't bet on dodgy leagues and complain when your funds get confiscated due to potential match fixing. Betfred pays me million GBP per month obviously.

If you contacted IBIA and IBAS and you got no reply - then investigation is clearly ongoing and they are not able to disclose any information with you. Acting all strong and smart will not help you out.

@Alfie White: do you really believe that any investigation is really ongoing - Dont you see that it is a new bookie method of confiscating winning clients money and this IBIA is formed only to legalize it - nothing else.

After all I am going to sue Betfred due to zero interest from users of this forum - as well as filing complaing form on sbr.com have left nothing in respond.

If there is anyone who has been unfairly treated by Betfred recently, in result of what clients money were taken away or account get closed contact me on PM I will try to present your issue to my attorney.

Ah, the "I will sue them" and "contact me, I have a lawyer" arguments, amazing.

Stop being a tool and save the funds you plan to waste on a lawyer, every single Bookmaker has article in regards to fixed matches and/or integrity concerns, you will gain nothing by suing them as they are protected with T&C. In addition to that IBIA and (especially) IBAS really do their job properly and their silence means there is investigation going on.

Everything you need to do is pull your head out of your ass and face reality.

Whatever you do further, good luck.

                  Welcome to the forum.

There are many people in your situation and this is a horrible system the UK uses to deal with match fixing investigations.

Once upon a time UKGC ordered that IBAS should provide people like you with 6 monthly updates of the status but as you have found out that just does not happen.

The good news is that in my experience almost everyone ends up being paid in the end. And 18 months to 2 years is not abnormal at all.

If you know you are not an agent for a betting syndicate, or have any match fixing information, you can be almost 100% sure you will see your money even if IBIA say the match was fixed.

My advice would be to email Betfred every couple of months and just politely ask them for an update on progress.

There really is not much else you can do that is going to get a faster result.

Betfred are just doing what the UKGC says they should. Give you no information that might compromise an investigation and tell you to wait for the IBIA result. (Which obviously sucks big time is ridiculous, but it is the real UK rules)

if the league is "dodgy" why does the book have it available to bet on? surely must be more trouble than its worth to offer leagues where matches are regularly suspicious.

There was no time limit set. As they could not know how long an investigation might take nor when the information could be released to not compromise investigations.

But they just should not be holding players money waiting is the real problem.

I do not know if some end up never being resolved but I have not seen complaints about this that have been more than about 3 years old. So I am thinking that is probably a good guide to the longest it might take.
