Why punish everyone for a few miscreants.
Getting rid of the Politics Forum is a terrible idea. Just punish those who make personal attacks on others.
1st offense, 1 week suspension
2nd offense, 3 week suspension
3rd offense, 6 week suspension
4th offense, 1 year suspension.

That was in response to a poster claiming I would have acted differently to mod MJ, who told Greget his posts needed to be "looked at" before the person Greget was saying should be booted.

That's not the reason.
I've argued we are better to try to solve the problem of politics posts overwhelming the forum rather than get rid of it for a while now, but it was always going to be removed as a sub forum eventually, I think. It's just become too much about the same handful of people attacking each other and pushing partisan propaganda ad nauseum is the real underlying reason it was never going to fit in with new SBR plans and goals.
I am sorry to see it go personally, and sorry for the regulars who enjoyed it. But it had a good run and is just past it's time here now :\
