1) People have familiarity w/ UConn b/c of the two titles. They're a known commodity.
2) Does their personnel match up w/ the TOP teams this year? And are they Hungry?

mcneeley is top 15 maybe top 10

karaban is a late first early second

and finally ball is a solid second rounder

that is more than enough to win a championship

Think back to how high their rank was early in the season. Then they had the disastrous trip to Hawaii.

Looks like a BUY LOW play to me. You should be +EV. Of course, they'll have to play well in March to win it.

This is a very good point. I used to think this about SEC football teams come bowl-season.

When a conference is hyper-competitive, your opponents are tuning you up for the stretch-run. Unless you play competitive sports, you don't quite understand this. Elite competition is the optimal pre-cursor to peak performance.

I think 3 SEC teams, AU, ALA, and UF, all get #1 seeds. TAM and UT should be 2 seeds. 13 SEC teams will get in.

This season's SEC basketball Conf is crazy. I saw some of the Top 30 listings. So loaded.

Both will get a 1 seed, win or lose. The winner will most likely be the overall top 1 seed. The SEC dominated OOC so much that the SEC tourney won’t mean much to their seedlings. A lot of their teams are getting in regardless. I’ve never seen this dominance not even in SEC football.

i watched a lot of those OOC games and the SEC teams looked different from the other conferences. They were much bigger, faster and stronger. The difference was glaring. I think the conference loaded up on grown ass men. A lot of grad students, married with children 6, 7 year players.

I think this is the year the SEC kills it in March. They look physically dominant against other conferences. Their OOC record was the best in NCAA history. Almost all their teams dominated the field. I think there’s a good chance we see 3SEC teams in the Final 4, if the committee doesn’t screw them and put them on one, two sides of the brackets. I think Auburn, Alabama, UT and Florida will all get to the elite 8 if they don’t have to play each other. Don’t sleep on UK, TAM, OM and Mizzou as well. All these teams blew out OOC teams and really only lost to themselves.

That is all well and good but still those are regular season stats.
I will enjoy the inflated lines come March on SEC teams. Until they show me something it is easy to stack cash fading that conference during the tournament.

We lost way too much to graduation and the NBA, plus there's a giant bullseye on their back.
Every opponent, every game, the opposition wants to stick it to UConn.

UConn has a few good pieces, but there will be no threepeat.

I wasn't expecting another championship this year, I said it back in August, I still say it today.
2026 the Huskies should make another deep run, this year, if we win two NCAA tourney games, I'd be very happy.

The women are poised to make another deep run, the men, no, but we'll be back in 2026.
