I don't think we can ever expect not to marketed at to tell us what to think. Disguising it as news has kind of wrecked the old style communication channels though. The way to fix that is via the people not accepting any sort of bias from any news source though. Instead of us all gravitating the sources that play to our interests. :\

And yeah, FFS please pick someone sensible. The whole problem started when Dems picked the worst possible easy option with Biden the first time imho. That was the moment for them to find another JFK or Bill Clinton style candidate who could make changes, like Trump is able to be seen as doing.

Yes we can, it's called journalism. I want the facts and the good/bad about each side of an argument and to make my decision based off that. The American public has pretty much shunned the legacy media because they can't be trusted to tell the truth.

Maybe you give them credit to do so but many on that side of the aisle are still pushing DEI etc even though it has been rejected my most Americans. Do they have the capability to look in the mirror, learn from their mistakes and read the room correctly? Their top future candidates stand for everything that the country rejected in November and I do not see that changing anytime soon.

I do not know much about Aussie politics but the little I know about Dutton and Albanese along with the trend going on around the world, it seems that Albanese's days are numbered.

I am going to see if any offshore books have odds on Aussie politics as I would bet on Dutton.

Technically that is correct, but the fact remains that more Americans voted for Trump than the Democratic candidate.

I was talking about DEI...you think 50% of the country is down with that and the whole woke experiment?

Surely even you would want the best of the best in the military, police and fire departments, no?

I couldn't care less about DEI in private companies(unless they deal with public safety), that is their death wish. When it comes to public safety and national security, don't you want the best person for the job regardless of color?

In your scenario, take the 3 top qualified. If you perceive them to have the same skills etc, then think about diversifying.
