#1474United CEO is one of the smartest guys in the country. He understands that we have to protect the dumb from themselves. Get the shot or go broke. Yet still 600+ United employees refused to get the shot and will be getting fired today.
United CEO: Mandating COVID vaccine was a no-brainer
United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby tells Axios that his early decision to mandate COVID-19 vaccines for all of his nearly 67,000 U.S. workers was an easy one: He's already seen too many employees die.
What he's saying: “For me, the fact that people are 300 times more likely to die if they’re unvaccinated is all I need to know," Kirby said. "It's about saving lives."
Kirby became emotional when he told Axios about the dozens of United employees who had died from COVID — "and 100% of them are unvaccinated."
- "Yesterday, we had an employee die. He was only 53, and he spent eight days in the emergency room, waiting for his spot in the ICU in Houston, because it’s full of COVID patients."
- "But he died before he ever got there. I’m tired of that happening. It’s tragic and it’s unnecessary. And that’s why we mandated the vaccine.”

#1481Multiple NBA players in including Kyrie are not vaccinated. Lebron opposed the vaccine for a while at first too.
Its interesting that dumb shits in the media and dumb shits like Vitterd don't realize the vaccination rates in the black community are extremely low.
Groups like Black lives matter are already talking about protesting New York businesses that don't allow customers who aren't vaccinated.
Another dumb left narrative goes away.Comment -

#1485That was a good response from Isaac. I agree that if you've already had Covid then you are at a much lower risk of contracting it again. If you already had Covid or if you are vaccinated, then you are part of the number we need for herd immunity. The problem is the unvaccinated who have not had Covid. Those are the ones that are keeping Covid as a topic. The sooner they get Covid or get the shot, the sooner we will be rid of this virus. It's pretty simple. Encourage them to get Covid or get the shot, so we can move forward. Hell, set up Covid infection shelters where they can go get Covid if they don't want to get the shot. Sounds crazy but that's how you quickly get rid of a pandemic.

#1486The NBA’s Anti-Vaxxers Are Trying to Push Around the League—And It’s Working
Conspiracy theories in the locker room. Mask police in the arena. Superstars trying to avoid the shot. After bringing back the culture from Covid, basketball confronts its own civil war
One by one, the basketball players — non-vaccinated star here, fully-inoculated veteran on mute down there, a full-on anti-vaxxer front-and-center — logged into the video conference. The annual summer meeting of the powerful NBA union had gone virtual again on August 7, and high on the agenda for the season ahead was a proposed mandate from the league office that 100 percent of players get vaccinated against Covid-19.
One response echoed from squares across the screen, according to players and an executive on the call: “Non-starter. Non-starter.”
The NBA had relied on science above all to lead the sports world through the Covid nightmare, from the league’s outbreak-driven shutdown to a pandemic-proof playoff bubble in Disney World to game after game with fans back in the stands. But after two plagued seasons of non-stop nasal swabbing, quarantining and distrust, unvaccinated players were pushing back. They made their case to the union summit: There should be testing this year, of course, just not during off-days. They’d mask up on the court and on the road, if they must. But no way would they agree to a mandatory jab. The vaccine deniers had set the agenda; the players agreed to take their demands for personal freedom to the NBA’s negotiating table.
Two of America’s most progressive cities, New York and San Francisco, would require pro athletes to show proof of one Covid-19 vaccination dose to play indoors, except with an approved medical or religious exemption. Which meant that one of the NBA’s biggest stars — one known for being receptive to conspiratorial beliefs — would be under heavy pressure to get a shot. And if Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving could be convinced to take the vaccine, then maybe, just maybe, the whole league could create a new kind of bubble together.
When asked directly about Irving’s vaccination status — or his plans to change it — multiple people familiar with his thinking declined to answer directly. But one confidant and family member floated to Rolling Stone the idea of anti-vaxx players skipping home games to dodge the New York City ordinance… or at least threatening to protest them, until the NBA changes its ways.
“There are so many other players outside of him who are opting out, I would like to think they would make a way,” says Kyrie’s aunt, Tyki Irving, who runs the seven-time All-Star’s family foundation and is one of the few people in his regular circle of advisors. “It could be like every third game. So it still gives you a full season of being interactive and being on the court, but with the limitations that they’re, of course, oppressing upon you. There can be some sort of formula where the NBA and the players can come to some sort of agreement.”

#1498Say what? I've agreed with you that having Covid gives you antibodies. How much, how long is still a question. Should you get vaccinated if you've had Covid? I say yes, just like Trump and the CDC has recommended. I've never argued on this. I've said numerous times that the only way we get to herd immunity is for people to get the shot or get Covid. But waiting for everyone to get Covid will take years, maybe a decade. Who wanted to wait that damn long?Comment -

How elite athletes have struggled with the long-term effects of Covid
Covid does not discriminate. Even elite athletes competing at the highest levels of their sports are susceptible to the virus’s long-term effects.
It’s been nearly a year since Covid changed everyday life as we know it. People have committed to slowing the virus’s spread by staying home, socially distancing, and wearing masks as vaccinations have slowly been rolled out. While progress has been made, there is still so much we don’t know about this virus.
Across multiple leagues, stories of athletes diagnosed with Covid have circulated, and everyone’s recovery has been different. Often, the road back to 100 percent isn’t a straight line.
From struggles with conditioning to discovering after-effects that threaten to derail promising young careers, Covid has wreaked havoc on athletes amateur, professional, and otherwise. These are the struggles certain athletes have had coming back from a positive test.
Mo Bamba and Jayson Tatum struggled with conditioning at 22 years old<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Steve Clifford, when asked about Mo Bamba: "There's no real timetable for him to be able to come back and fully participate. I think that he'll be able to do some things that are more organizational and everything. But he's a ways away, and there's no timetable on his return."</p>— Josh Robbins (@JoshuaBRobbins) <a href="https://twitter.com/JoshuaBRobbins/status/1333783338067267588?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" >December 1, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>Yoán Moncada and Kenley Jansen had a hard time reaching their pre-Covid production in baseball
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Jayson Tatum said he is still dealing with the after-effects of COVID-19 more than a month after he initially tested positive for the virus.<br><br>"Just running up and down the court a few times, it's easier to get out of breath or tired a lot faster." <a href="https://t.co/hnW7sVZeN4">pic.twitter.com/hnW7sVZeN4</a></p>— NBA on ESPN (@ESPNNBA) <a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNNBA/status/1361757438794416128?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" >February 16, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Tommy Sweeney and Ryquell Armstead ended their seasons due to Covid complications.
Tommy Sweeney of the Buffalo Bills was one of the first NFL players to develop a season-ending condition from Covid complications. He developed myocarditis, which is inflammation of the heart muscle.
Travez Moore, an outside linebacker at LSU, lost a significant amount of weight necessary for his position while infected with Covid.
Xavier Thompson, a defensive end for Clemson, decided to redshirt due to the virus’s negative effects on his mental health. Thompson had battled both strep throat and the virus, and head coach Dabo Swinney said not being able to work out due to the virus “put him in a bad place mentally as well.”
Asia Durr’s professional career is in jeopardy due to Covid
Unlike many of these athletes, Asia Durr has seen more than a dip in performance, a few missed games, or one forgone season. She is a Covid long-hauler, someone who survived the virus but didn’t completely recover, and she has no timeline for her return.
Many of the symptoms associated with long-haulers are developing brain fog, vertigo, debilitating fatigue, and difficulty breathing. Due to these symptoms, Durr and other long-haulers have no timetable for returning, and there is a chance it won’t go away.
Durr was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft and was drafted by the New York Liberty. At 23 years old and with the potential for a full career ahead of her, Durr described her symptoms. She said,“There’s days where I feel great, like I could go out and go to the store or I could clean up. And then there’s days where I’m like, ‘I just have to stay in the bed,’ and you just feel like you got hit by a bus.”She went on to say,
“I haven’t been able to (pick up a ball and play). It’s really challenging for me. But I’ve talked to doctors and they’ve told me I’m not cleared yet. I’m not cleared to be able do anything physically, which could cause flare-ups. That’s what’s really hard for me. Because in life whenever something was hard, I would go play. I can’t even do that now. I can’t even shoot a free throw.”Myles Garrett admits he was 50% after COVID-19 because of asthma; says it hurt to lose shot at NFL Defensive POY

#1502If you actually believe we're ever going to "get rid of this virus", I think you are in for a long future of continuing disappointment. Besides the scientific side of it, the Dems have figured out they can milk it for more power and to distract everyone from every evil endeavor they can concoct. If it ever does begin to subside, they will find some way to try to scare people with it over and over, they same way they continuously fan the flames of racism where it doesn't really exist.Comment -

#1503Do you really think the Dems created the virus? Are you serious? Please tell me how they are milking this for power? Name me one dem or republican that is milking this? Do you really think if people WERE NOT getting sick and not dying that Covid would have scared so many people? 600,000 people dead in over a year is pretty scary, especially when most people know people that have died from this. People are also scared about cancer and heart disease but there's one caveat. You can't catch cancer or a heart attack from someone else. Pandemics are scary rightfully so. But apart from the drug companies, I'm not sure where you think these Dems are profiting? Please let me know so I can participate.Comment -
