Focus on the result, not the flaws.

If it's made so tough that no one who you think is undeserving could ever get through, it would be penalizing the probably 95%+ of genuine people who need it.

Maybe 5% isn't really such a high premium to pay to get the best result for those that we want to look after with the program.

But I think most of the people that object to social security just don't want to "give any of their own money" to anyone else really. Even if that money provides a +EV return for them and the rest of society.

I just hope the number is close to 95%. Probably is with disability, but not government assistance as a whole. Plenty of people who know how to game the system. I’m too lazy to even try. Think I’m qualified for food stamps, and probably more but don’t even feel like spending the time signing up. My lazy ass could work if my life depended on it.

But it’s not. I know a quite few people working the system pretty hard. Some feel like they’ve won the lottery.

Yeah well, my utopian justification relies on a good over sight system that makes it really only cost 5% or less in losses to those that think it's a game to win.

But honestly, what is that sort of person going to be doing otherwise anyway? They are kind of socially disabled to want to be on it when they can do better for themselves.
