I agree that tipping has got out of hand here in the U.S., and it isn't getting better. Remember the controversy about blacks not being served promptly at a certain restaurant chain? That was due to a perception that they wouldn't tip well. Do you really think that all employees who don't get a tip all provide poor service, or that they would be better if they got a tip?

It is ludicrous that someone should tip for average or OK service. The customer can always submit a survey online and those surveys do record who served you. We should not be subsidizing the restaurant industry. If the service is really bad, complain or submit a bad review on an online website. If it's really good, you can always leave a tip if you want to.
