Late night bet for action junkies/those who like +EV
A rare posted play by me, but it has a $200 max and I already hit it.

    Rugby League World Cup

Bodog: Australia -12.5 -140. Fair value is roughly -157.

Don't have a Bodog account and I know absolutely nothing about rugby league so I coudn't even begin to try and calculate this, but Pinny has -16.5 +107 with a -650 ML. Either of those have value?

Either way, nice job posting a pick!

Unfortunately, no. Those 4 points are worth about 14%.

Eh that's what I figured. I'm guessing you used the Pinny line to assess the play in the first place?
It was part of it, although not all of it. Rugby (league and union) lines are pretty inefficient which makes sense since the max bets are pretty small compared to the American sports and soccer. Kinda pissed Bodog circled this one.

If anyone wants to sweat it, I think they will have a free stream on NRL.com.au. In addition, if you get Setanta, it's on TV there. Game starts at 4 am ET.

Inglis follows up on Slater's try and it's 10-0 Australia with the conversion to come after just 10 minutes.

In thirty words or less, can anyone explain the difference between Rugby League and Union?

League: limited tackles (like downs), 13 players, uncontested scrums, if ball goes out of bounds play is restarted with a tap kick, 4 points for a try 2 for the conversion, 2 for a penalty kick and 1 for a drop goal.

Union: 15 players, unlimited tackles, 15 players, uncontested scrums, lineouts, 5 points for a try, 3 for a penalty kick, 2 for a conversion and 3 points for a drop goal.

That was more than 30 words but hope that helps.

                            No problem.

One other major difference is what happens when a player is tackled. In league, the play somewhat stops and is restarted by the tackled player toeing the ball back (called a "play the ball"). In union, play continues in what is called a ruck where each team has a chance to gain possession but the team on offense tends to retain the ball. The biggest difference between the two games is that union emphasizes a contest of position much more than league. There are lots of other minor differences like having to wrap in tackles in union and not having to in league. Union was also "amateur" until the mid 1990s and the two games originally split in 1895 because of a dispute with regards to paying players. Union is the much more popular of the two worldwide, with Northern England and Eastern Australia (New South Wales and Queensland) being the exceptions.
