WTF are you talking about? Lakers cant win anywhere, not even at home now, and they certainly havent been decent on the road in about 3 years.

Defense? Youre actually mentioning a team playing bad defense? NO ONE and i repeat NO ONE, plays worse defense in the NBA than the Lakers.

Dallas will end up being ahead of lakers before it is over, trust me. So even if a team or 2 falers in front of them they still have to worry about Dallas.

Lakers are in 11th place right now, that means they have to get past 3 teams in front of them already, not counting Dallas.

Add to that that the Lakers are finally going to get into a relatively hard part of their schedule and it doesnt look good. Theyre 3 games under 500 now, 33 games into the season, in 10 more games they will still be at least 2 games under 500 and more than likely 4 games under. 5-5 is the most likely scenario which keeps them at 3 games under 500 at the 43 game mark, or slightly more than half way through the season.

Then not too long after that, first of Feb they have a 7 game road trip, against some pretty bad teams but it is still an extended road trip, they havent won shit on the road in 3 years, so what will their record be in that stretch? That ends Feb 10 and I woud bet any amount of money they wont be at 500 even then. Thats 56 or so games into the season. So they have 27 games to make up whatever they need to to make the play offs.

Marh is impossible for them, they have 10 of 14 games on the road. Yeah a good spot for the LA Lakers to make up game on people. Theyre only 10-8 at home right now, so barely above 500 in their own gym. even me, the first guy to fade the Lakers always recognized they could win at home. Not this year.

If they continue to play the way they have been this team will be lucky to win 40 games. 40-42 isnt making the play offs in the west. Not even close.

I predict they would have to go 15-8 (65%) at home and 13-13 (500) on the road to even have a slim chance at 43-38 to make the play offs in the west. At this point that would be a monumental turn around.

Lakers are out of exucses. Nash is back and playing well (offensively anyway) Howards is also having a near career year on the offensive side, Kobe, well he is being Kobe. Even Artest is playing a lot better offensively than he has in a cuople years and much better than one would expect.

But I and other said it a long time ago, offense isnt the problem with them, defense is.

When they first formed, it was a discussion of whether they can beat Miami. Then it was making it out of the West, and then it turned into which round they'll exit in the playoffs.

And yeah now its whether or not they make the playoffs.

I just hope this discussion doesn't turn into who Lakers will draft with one of their top picks.

it actually keeps getting worse for the lakers, like wantit said, the hard games are still yet to come, a nice road trip to houston and then to san antonio as the 2nd game of a back to back, probably 0-2 1-1 at best, then home against the thunder friday.

Which means theyd have to win about 30 of their next 49 games. Considering they haven't even won half of their games (15-18) it doesn't look very good for them.

Lakers are now officially done, Howard probably out for the year, minimum til the all star break I would say. Gasol and Hill missing the next 3 games. Lakers will be 10 games under 500 before they realize it. Without Howard they wont win 5 of their next 15.

This wasn't some bold gung ho prediction. It's pretty ez in fact. You go look at the futures at the start of the season. Find the team thats top favorite and say "hey guys their going to win. Put your arguments here so I can shatter them." Hard work.
