I dont recall GN having cabannas at the pool. It's sort of a first come first serve kinda atmosphere. They have daybeds, lounge chairs and couches.

There is a private pool above the shark tank though. I think you can get cabanna service up there.

I've got my fingers crossed for some good sales from the airlines. Right now the best RT fare I can find is $440 and that's from a secondary airport 80 miles from home. From the major airport in town the best price at the moment is $490.

If I had to fly to LAX and drive, what's that, about four hours?

Venetian is the best hotel in Vegas with the Golden Nugget being the best located downtown as it is. For those that has never been the excitement is overwelming come nighttime downtown. One needs to find time for adventure outside of Vegas and should stay as long as possible. Me and the wife will be arriving Thursday, leaving the following Thursday. Rooms at the Nugget will be about $45. a night for the extra stay.

golden nugget has cabanas in 2 different spots

they are on the 2nd and 3rd level of the shark tank

also in the hideout area there are cabanas and beds you can rent

Generally speaking...

Fri night - meet n greet w/open bar and maybe some food, giveaways
Sat - poker tournament
Sat nite - bash party w/open bar, lots of food, entertainment, giveaways

Also maybe a horse capping tourney and golf.
