Got Rick Santorum at 75-1 to win the Republican Nomination!
Too bad it was only for SBR points...
Will SBR put the odds back up before New Hampshire so I can hedge with Romney?

You do realize Santorum is polling around 5% in New Hampshire?
His 5 minutes are just about up.

He's gonna get a huge influx of sorely needed cash after Iowa but that's not likely to translate into a NH win. He's a hardcore right wing Christian morals candidate and they don't have a good track record in NH. McCain knocked Huckabee out of the race by stomping him into the ground in NH in 2008. Santorum's plan has to be to hope for a reasonable showing in NH and then kick the shit out of Mitt in SC and Fl.
The sleeper now is Newt. He could mount a come back if he goes postal on Mitt, which seems to be his current plan. He's not likely to win NH but could pick up steam heading into the bible belt south. If he doesn't show well by SC he's toast.
Mitt should be hoping as many candidates as possible stay in the race for as long as possible. They're keeping the field open and thus shutting out Paul. I've seen a few polls showing GOP primary voters are about 50-50% when it's just Romney V. Paul. GOP leader really dislike (maybe even hate) Paul. They're doing everything they can to keep him from getting the nom. I would not at all be surprised if they called Perry and begged him to stay in a little longer. Perry went back to Texas after getting his ass handed to him in Iowa to "think about his path." Everyone assumed that meant "see ya." He gets up the next morning and suddenly he's headed to NH to the debates. When has a debate ever helped Perry win votes? Me thinks the behind the scenes power players are hard at work to keep Paul's numbers from growing out of control.

Remember that it takes delegates to win. Romney would need to meltdown to lose his grasp on the nomination, Santorum isn't going anywhere.

Better chance of white guy winning gold in 100 yard dash at Olympics than that guy winning nomination. Romney will have to find a good vp candidate to beat Obama in November. He is too dull to stand on his own. Maybe the Rubio guy from FL to try and get Hispanic vote.

Whoever is the GOPP nominee, Rubio will be his first choice as a running mate. With Rubio, the nominee wins Florida, and probably North Carolina and Virginia as well. If itis not Rubio, do not be surprised if Bob McDonnell, the Governor of Virginia, get the call, especially if Romney wins the nomination. The only way a non-Southerner is not nominated for the #2 spot is if Gingrich gets the nomination, and that is not going to happen.

He won due to several factors... 1.) He ran against Bush Jr. more then he ran against McCain. 2.) McCain went into melt down mode as the economy dropped off a cliff. First saying the economy was strong then the next day suspending his campaign to "go to DC to help resolve the economic crisis." Once in DC he stated he had no ideas to resolve the crisis. 3.) He then tried a "Hail Mary" by picking Palin as his VP choice. He got a big bump at first but then she started talking. After listening to her for a week or two even McCain's staff couldn't stand her. And about 60-65% of the country agreed. She had a loyal following of 35-40% but her negative numbers were simply too high to over come.
He won in a perfect storm basically. Not sure he's going to have the same advantages this go around. But looking at what the GOP has put up against him he may enjoy other advantages. Either way the country will once again vote close to 50-50% with one side barely winning. And it's a given which ever side wins they'll claim it's a mandate.

I think Ron Paul is the only Republican that has a chance against O.
Santorum and Gingrich: Way too divisive and controversial.
Romney: Sneaky and slick manipulator and a proven socialist.
I really don't see how anyone on the Rep. side other than Paul can compete with O head-to-head.
Question to all Independents here: Would you vote for Santorum, Gingrich, or Romney over O?

I've never reg. with any party and looking back I'd say I've voted nearly 50/50 when it comes to POTUS and my honest answer is no, I couldn't. But I wouldn't vote for Paul either. I'm really disappointed with the field the GOP has put forth. I'm not thrilled with Obama but given the choices it's looking more and more like I'll probably being dropping my bean in his bowl this year.
I don't think I'm alone either. The latest poll, out this morning, shows Obama beats Paul by 10% in a head to head. The only guy he beats worse is Santorum by 12%.

Are you serious?
He instituted government mandated health care when he was governor of Massachusetts which became the basis for Obamacare.

Yes, I'm completely serious. Romney's spent his entire life working mostly as a business professional practicing what could only be described as '"true market capitalism." He made more money doing this nearly every year then, I'm guessing, all the people on here will make in their entire lives combined. But you're right in that while Governor of Mass. he was part of a system that passed a health care bill that helped provide more health care to more people. If you think what he did was socialism then you don't really understand what socialism is or what makes a person a socialists.
Calling Mitt a socialists is kind of like calling JD Rockefeller commie because he donated money to the march of dimes. Men like Romney, Rockefeller et el are hard core capitalists and trying to label them anything else is just silly.
I do agree with your sneaky and slick assessment... but that is pretty much true for all politicians. Even your man Ron has a past of selling newsletters, making a nice profit off them, then claiming he had no idea what was in them. Sure he didn't.
Politicians... lips move=lies.

How anyone could be all those things or why is beyond me but apparently it's true. I know 'cause I read it on the inter tubes.

I think that's a bit harsh. My guess is if asked Rick would know which magazines and newspapers he reads and that Africa is a continent, not a country. But I could be wrong... it's happened before and I'm sure it will again.

Yeah....he's getting hammered with ads In MI but unlike Newt who has more baggage than samsonite, Santorum is getting hit for being a "big spending, insider". Not quite as effective. Im thinking Mitt will pull off the squeeker. Seems like the polls are gradually moving in his direction.
