-What I read in this thread is a bunch of posts by people hating on Carson Palmer for no good reason.
-A group of football fans that believe GM's & owners should stuff draft picks up their asses for safe keeping rather than using them to acquire a player they actually need.

_ IDK if this trade is good or bad because idk who Cincy will pick or how well Palmer will play but I applaud Oakland's mgmt for not sitting on their hands & pretending every thing will be alright with Kyle Boller.

so what? palmer played in just 8 more games than rivers overall. plus palmer's worst season was his rookie season while rivers had the luxury of sitting and learning from brees while palmer was thrown to the wolves.

even their per game passing yards are similar: 234 vs. 238.

Exactly my point, palmers played in 8 more games, and turned the ball over 35 more times. Thats what separates quarterbacks. Like i said did you watch palmer last year, all of his yardage was after he had turned the ball over multiple times and the game was out of reach. I feel like your just trying to start an argument because your bored. Good luck

              huh?

so dan marino must be a bum who shouldn't be compared to montana cause he threw 113 more ints.

as for palmer throwing more picks, anyone who knows football will tell you it's far more difficult playing in a division with the steelers & ravens than the raiders and broncos. not to mention rivers has/had far greater talent around him with hall of famers lt and gates.

Yes, give them a standing ovation for have Kyle Boller as their backup QB and then having to spend 2 1st round picks to bring in another QB who has not played well in a long time. I could see if their 1st string and 2nd string went down, but they made the choice to have Boller as the backup.

Oh, and blowing a 3rd round pick on a QB as well for next year.

name a 2nd string qb in the nfl that you think is capable of leading a team to the super bowl. there aren't any.

this was a good move and will pay off with a playoff appearance either this season or the next. their first since 2002-3 season.

Campbell is out six weeks, there may not be lots of backups out there that can lead you to a SB but you need to have a decent backup who can keep you afloat until the starter is back.

Also, Campbell is not good enough to win a SB with this team, but they could make the playoffs. I doubt Palmer can win a SB either. I guess 2 1st Round picks is worth 1 playoff trip though for them.

This shows a complete non understanding by the Raiders how the things have changed and the new value of a first round pick...Paying Palmer old, money. Big money. Two firsts? Hell, make it three and another second and you have Andrew Luck for a third of the price... And I like Palmer.

The raiders are grasping at straws here because they finally are in playoff position. I really dont know why they didnt trade a 7th to minnesota to get mcnabb, he's just as good as palmer. Anybody that watched palmer last year knows he's not even worth a 3rd round pick, but it doesnt suprise me that a team who drafts as bad as oakland does would make this trade. They must have the worst talent evaluators in the league to think palmer has anything left.

raiders have allowed the fewest sacks in the league, retardo. not to mention they have a great running back who can catch out of the backfield. as for the wrs, they're no better or worse than who palmer was throwing to late last season.

Have you watched football since, 2007? Palmer USED to be an elite quarterback. If your really this bored that your arguing palmer is still a good quarterback, find the highlights of every game last year. Then come back.

BTW, since you love stats, orton had a far better 2009 and 2010 then palmer.
                                        2009- Orton, 3,800 yards 21 td 12 picks. Palmer- 3,094 yards, 21 TD, 13 picks.
                                        2010- Orton in 13 games 3,653 yards, 20 TD, 9 picks. Palmer- 3,970 26 td, 20 picks.

Oakland needs Palmer, but they negotiated in a bad position.
Everyone knew how bad they needed a QB and Cincy pounced and were able to nab 2 first rounders from Oakland.

For Cincy this is a heck of a deal because they already had Dalton and Palmer was just dead weight. A week or two ago they would be lucky to get a 3rd rounder for him.

For Oakland, good solid quarterback but they are basically saying they trust their team the way it is and adding some elite talent at the other positions aren't that important to them right now.

Anyway.. deal is done... lets see how it plays out.

I have ** Fadden in my fantasy this year therefore I'm psyched.

Miss Cleo connected with Hue Jackson and spoke with Al Davis to pull this deal off. The old saying is there is no one dead or alive that could be this stupid. They now have to change the old saying to just alive because the dead Al Davis did so and boy did he pull off another bonehead trade. Good luck!

I know the Raiders needed to do something, but this is just a bad deal for them. Palmer is no where being worth what they had to give up for him. Palmer has lost a lot of his accuracy and arm strength, he's coming into a new offense and won't be in game shape. Ever since his elbow injury his passing hasn't been the same. He might make the occasional big play, but I think the best hope for the Raiders is that Palmer can drive the bus and not make turnovers. They mortgaged their future for a bus driver, at best.

This is a huge win for the Bengals, they have a promising young team and get some nice draft picks to add to it. I wonder if the Bengals wore a mask when they robbed.... er made the deal with the Raiders. If the Bengals can avoid drafting more future felons, then they have a bright future.

Roadtrip, spot on. Since his injury he's just not the same thrower that he was. I was starting to think no one has watched a game since 2007.

Can't believe the Raiders just gave up 2 first round picks for a guy who hasn't played football in 10 months. He has been so overrated. They could have probably gotten Orton for a 4th round pick, and I'd much rather have Orton than Palmer. This is such a "raiders" type of trade.
