The sun has a limited life cycle. In time the same sun that provided life on Earth will expand reaching further out into space. The Earth will become extremely hot. The earths water will evaporate. However, the bigger issue is when one group says the earth is billions and billions of years old and the other group says that the earth is no more than 5,000 years old or so. The only reason this question ever comes up is because we are the most intelligent species on this planet, well most of us. Religion was created as a means of controlling large groups of people through fear. This fact has been proven throughout time. The fact that religion is still effective today just shows two things. One this world is getting more and more stupid, we claim to have grasps on technology and science but yet we still reach for religion

Here's a quick run down on what happens when we die. We're animals like everything else, we sit in the ground and nothing else, we have no soul we have no inner being, we just rot. The only reason people believe there is some higher power is their fear of death. People refuse to believe that we are here one moment then plant fertilizer the next. That's all there is to it accept is and move on.
Just FYI, I went to church 3-4 times a week for 5+ years of my life, so I do have some exposure to it. Also, I have read the da vinci code but I'm not getting my facts from that. It amazes me that as intelligent as a species as we are we grab for something that has not once ever been proven correct or to even exist at all. Yet through the last 7000 years of progression science has advanced us to where we are and studied the past to blow holes in the bible left and right.
