When the government enacts laws that take away peoples' personal choices, we do not have any freedom. If the government passes a law saying it is illegal for you to breathe, do you have the "freedom" to breathe?

This is what happens when a government shutdown is threatened. The President, who's feeble attempts to legalize pot so he can eventually tax it and hope for a new revenue stream have failed so here he comes after poker. Hes desperate for money and he will do anything to get it because he has buried the country under an avalanche of debt.

People are blaming the Gov but I think there are special interest groups that helped push what happened today. Groups like all the big casinos around the country that are losing money because people are just staying home and playing poker instead of going to a casino. And there are new websites that are popping up like that Hustler website.

Basically people felt the online poker industry was cutting into their profits and i think there the ones who forced the Gov's hand. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, never underestimate the power of Private Corporations. Money is power, and Private businesses certainly have the most money, so to easy and safe to assume the Multi-billion dollar U.S. based gaming industry had a hand in this. Its the way capitalistic systems work. They are protecting their assets by using the government as a tool to push there agenda. Companys have been doing it in the U.S. for, lets see, 200 plus years or so. Not bad or good, just the way it is

Drop the Obama wants more money BS or 'taking away are freedom shit' Its about money, and Las Vegas and Indian Casinos want to keep more of it due to the economic downturn. Where else will Americans go now to get there gambling fixes, think about it...it was exactly the same thing for atdhe.net. The FBI was pushed by the networks

so sick, some of my friends could cash out just after the news broke out on the internet, but after 1 hour or so no cashouts were allowed, many people are panicking here in scandinavia
