Very few posters can stay on SBR for more than three months
Sure there's a handful of regular members, but considering how many people register here, very few stick around very long.

Common logic is that they get barreled in on the short term, and then are able to stay away from wagering on sports and conversing about sports gambling.

I am pretty much done gambling on anything but NFL/NCAA football, can you win at MLB or NBA, sure you can, just flip the coin the right way and you'll have your money on the hot shooters and the team not turning over the ball, flip it the wrong way and you'll get buried. I had 300 on Boston -9 and they enter the 4th Qtr. up 10 against the worst team in the playoffs, so whilst I'm not "confident", b/c in NBA/MLB you can never be confident I did think that Boston (best team in the East vs. worst team in East spotting 10 pts for a quarter) would at least win the game, maybe only by 5 or 6 which would cost me my bet but at least win. The mother****ers played like they were fukin beginners, I was up 9 with 2 mins left with 300 on Memphis in the Nat. championship game, you'd figure they could hold on and win the game, you'd be wrong they lost in OT. Hell there is no right side and wrong side b/c a guy off a couple inches on his shot is going to miss everything that night and when he's on he's going to bury everything. Nash played like dogshit in the last 2 mins hell he turned over and in bounds ball into his hands, he threw the fukin thing out of bounds I mean wtf??? There is no predictability to MLB/NBA the Tigers got swept by the Royals, and the Tigers are supposed to be much better, hell then win one of the fukin games. Boston wins series against Yanks (highest paid team) when they were down 3-0 nothing a few years ago, I mean they pay their players fukin over a quarter of a billion and they can't win 1 out of 4?? How do the best teams keep getting annihilated?? Also someone tell me how home court advantage can be such a fukin advantage in basketball, I mean hell it's amazing how the Celtics can't beat the worst team in the East at home, I mean does the crowd saying yay when the other team makes a basket make it harder for Garnett to make a layup? Or make Pierce unable to hit a fukin FG or FT??? Really wtf goes on at home that makes the worst team so much better than the best?

Chute how do you go 52% and up 100 units, are these ML picks or you bet more units on some games or something b/c the break even percentage at -110 is 53% winners.

For the NFL, it was off ML's. For the NBA, it was a roller coaster ride. Started the season doing 1-2 unit plays, was real hot, got up to about 25 units in November. Broke even in December with 1-2 unit plays, started digging a hole when I increased my average bet size up to 3-4 units in January to try and get on a little bit of a roll. Then, I was about to give up, and put a 50 unit play in, my largest of the year. That put me up to 45 units, as I was in the hole at the time. Then I battled back on mainly 2-3 unit plays, with a few 5 unit plays thrown in, for the months of February and March. Currently getting hammered on 1 unit plays in the Playoffs.

                  Look at the bottom:

Statistics conclusively prove that nearly all gamblers will lose money over the long term.

Only few people make money from gambling. For the rest it's either fun or a way to lose some money which I wouldn't recommend

It's my secondary income, and has been for years. I have struggled at times, but haven't had a losing year since I was 16, and I'm sure as hell not about to start now. Thanks for the advice though.

most people dont want to risk their $ on sports that they see as random year after year .
the biggest aspect to gambling is having to be concerned about the outcome of events you can't control . the biggest reason there are more losing bettors is because most do it more as entertainment . most people that lose $ in casinos play to lose , they dont go there to be a pro ...
                              it isin't for everybody .
if you have a true love for sports and a good mind then all you need is some real $ to get the ball rolling .
the majority of people are scared to lose their money , they would rather bs around with it , spend it at walmart .

For a while now I have been all for separating serious sports debate from horseshit threads. If you want to make this a sports betting site the sports portion of the site needs to be further emphasized and the jerkoff threads section (about 50% of the players section plus anything certain posters post) needs to be deemphasized to the point where it only gets attention when a user goes to the section for these types of threads.

It seems like the first place everyone goes on this site is the players forum and that's where the problems start. The main forum on this page should be very sports specific and then the horseshit section should be an option listed with all of the other topic specific sub-forums - NOT AS THE MAIN FORUM FOR THE ENTIRE SBR WEBSITE.

This is also very true. Some posters are only into specific sports. With that being said, I don't know the track record of posters from September-January considering I just joined in March.

Man ain 't that the truth a mlb team will be -160 and loose by 10 runs, next game -150 and loose 6-0. They play like shit because they dont care and MAKE TOO MUCH MONEY!.
Its impossable to predict because the players do not play like they are supposed to..how the hell can you handicapp if a guy feels like playing one night. They are professionals they are supposed to play the same way every day. Just flip a coin take the dog and points....this sucks
