It is a little early to put him in the HOF or call him a franchise QB but I didn't think he was worth the #1 overall pick or that he would ever have a game in the NFL like he did yesterday. I will admit he is better than I thought he could be but it is still early. Plus they did lose the game and he had 5 chances to win it at the end and he didn't get it done. But he will more than likely be a pretty good QB in the NFL.

How many here actually watched this game? I'm pretty sure I could have thrown for 300 yards given how open those receivers were. Newton had some nice plays, no doubt, but if you think this game was a harbinger of the Cam Domination to come I believe you are seeing things that aren't there. Check back in after 8 games and see how consistent he is. I don't know how good Newton is going to be over the course of his career (goodness knows he has a mess of potential to be very good), but I do know that using one game--especially that game--to extrapolate a forecast of his career is a mistake.
