People saying he spurned the Yankees are off base IMO. The Rangers are the team he really spurned. They offered more money and he was their player. The Yankees are used to big free agents using them to ratchet up the market. Even if a guy has no intention of playing for the Yankees, his agent will explain that the Yankees have to be in on the bidding if he wants to get top dollar.

How do Rangers fans accept that he went to the Phillies for less money though? Haha, there was no indication this could happen.

Who cares?

Barring serious injuries you will win more games than any other NL team. The playoffs are always a crap shoot, but you have the two best starting pitchers in baseball.

Just better not get unlucky in the playoffs, because these contracts are usually pretty heavy anchors... But it sounds like the contract was actually not that bad. Gotta wait to hear the terms... 7 years is a disaster, 5 with an automatically vested 6th could be OK.

I would still like to see what those "makeable incentives" are. If the Phillies protected themselves against a long term injury, then it makes the contract less bad.

The Line-up looks like shit. The Bullpen looks like shit too. Manager makes bad moves.
The only thing they have is a good rotation and Lee is NOT dominant in the regular season.
The offense are late bloomers and the only reason why the Phillies made it to the Postseason was because the Braves lost most of their key players which gave the Phillies some ground in late September.

How can you make bad moves when you roll out Halladay, Lee, Oswalt, and Hamels? Who cares if the manager sucks? He just needs to sit on his ass and watch Halladay and Lee mow down terrible NL lineups.
