#143But it can be boring sometimes, agreed with you about it.
Soccer is the most popular soccer on earth. It's a fact..and I love soccer but I love US Sports more. NFL or NBA, much entertaining/enjoying then soccer.
When you turn on a NBA or NFL Game, you're likely to watch a good, enjoying game.
When you turn on a soccer game, you're likely to watch a boring, dull game. (If it's Barca or Real game, it's another story of course, LoL)Comment -

#150If number of points scored is the greatest factor in judging the entertainment level of a game you certainly haven´t understood much...
But on the other hand, maybe I shouldn´t spend time a replying in a thread so obviously made just to provoceComment -

#155It is the most popular sport in the world because most of the world is poor.
Wait a few generations, and see how soccer subsides in interest. Kids in Europe and Latin America are learning about Baseball and Basketball now, and will see the folly that is watching a nil nil game.Comment -

I understand a 1-0 game can be riveting, just as a 1-0 game in the NHL can be. However, most likely, you have the god damn Azzuri scoring a goal in the first 20 minutes of the game, then sitting back no trying to score.Comment -

#159You couldn't be any wrong. Back in the 80's soccer teams budgets were less than a few millions. Now most teams have budgets of more than 50 million and the richest soccer teams worth more than the Yankees or Cowboys. In fact there is so much money in soccer right now than 30 years ago than was ever before with the TV contracts.
Im talking about the reason why its the most popular sport in the world.
There is a reason all the poor children around me in Chile play soccer. All they need is a ball. To run other sports is too expensive at a formal level.Comment -

#160people in Europe are brainwashed into worshiping soccer...look at those idiots fighting and killing each other in the name of "supporting" their team.
Since early ages the kids in Europe are taught that soccer is one of the most important thing in life, they grow up watching the adults getting excited over the game, worshiping the players, their sponsors and uniforms...so they start copying them. Most of the boys in Europe grow up dreaming to become soccer players, they most likely play soccer for few years developing an idiotic passion for the game...and in the end of course over 99.9% of them will not become professional players and they end up being supporters...they reach a stage when they can hurt people who dare to suggest things like soccer is not important. Even wearing a shirt belonging to a rival team can get you in the hospital in Europe.
I must add the fact that those dead brains are used also for political gain by some club owners, they can be used to get votes or provoking violence...

#163Unreal some of the responses in this post. I only pay attention to soccer occasionally. I for the most part avoid betting on it. Mainly because you have 1 way to win and 2 ways to lose. Today's game is a prime example of getting screwed. An equalizer goal scored at 90+Comment -

U have the same things in both sports!

NFL backdoor covers in last seconds? A Hale mary?? Wouldn't be the same?
MLB an error of the fielder to kill the RL?Comment -

Wait a few generations, and see how soccer subsides in interest. Kids in Europe and Latin America are learning about Baseball and Basketball now, and will see the folly that is watching a nil nil game. They could watch everyday MLB, NFL and they will prefer soccer!
In Latin America a lot of countries already know about baseball! See how many Cubans, Mexicans, Domincans, some COlombians are on MLB! And it doesn't matter! They can watch Baseball but they'll prefer soccer!
I my case I like Soccer, MLB, NFL. Some other sports! I think just people have to look further to know new things!Comment -

100 years ago, 50 years ago.. it was nothing but soccer in South and Latin America. There is no way to prove this other than through empirical evidence, but obviously the sports market is no longer saturated with just soccer. Now imagine the kids growin up idolizing baseball players staring in MLB. Their kids, and their kids will fall in love with it, and ignore soccer most likely.Comment -

#170Why can't other sports adopt soccer's relegation format. Some team from the shtty ass NFC west is going to make the playoffs when they should all be fighting to stay in the league. That is one part of soccer leagues that I think is way better than any american sport.Comment -
