First of all not every game or even close to half are 0-0 or 1-0. If that was the case totals wouldn't be 2.5 or 3. This notion that a tie makes it stupid is just wrong. The NFL can actually end in a tie. I'm a big American football fan but today by far there was no more exciting game than Tottenham-Chelsea and that ended 1-1. Games that go to shootouts to determine a winner or the college football overtime rule just cheapen the sport. In my opinion soccer (or footbal which I should really be calling it) along with baseball are the only two pure sports left.

Well that's the thing, you might want a winner, but this is something the fans are not calling for. You get winners in elimination tournaments. In a league where 40+ games are played you have ties it's the only logical way of proving who is the better team over the course of the season rather then having it decided by luck. You either like soccer or you don't, you can't be a fan of the game but then not like the sport because it has ties...makes no sense.

There was a time win college football had ties. People said overtime would cheapen it and take away from the "tradition." Scoreless ties happen in Soccer, but a lot of them are in tournaments where lesser teams play for the tie. Look at princeton-style offense teams in college basketball or football teams that run the ball to keep it away from the opponent's offense.

Its not that Americans don't like soccer, its that Americans don't like *BAD* soccer. The best players play in Europe, because the best teams are in Europe. The MLS is no more representative of soccer than NFL Europe was of football. Hell, MLS games are played on turf, when almost all European games are played on natural grass.

Soccer can be plenty exciting: the game is constantly in motion without all the starts and stops and tv timeouts of the NFL, NBA, and especially baseball. The actual goal is an anticlimax, the real action comes from knowing someone needs to score and wondering when its going to happen. Watch closely enough and someone will make a play. Sure there's flopping but have you seen the NFL lately with all those QBs and WRs begging for flags? And don't get me started on the NBA.

I used to be a Soccer fan. Not anymore. This sport puts too much emphasis in defense, and doesnt matter how much the players run or jump or kick the ball; usually they will not score.
Something else I dont like about Soccer: you dont have to be smart to play or watch it, because needs a very basic level of strategy. This is not a sport that challenges your mind.

Why don't you bring the relegation system. Why do the weakest teams play at all at the end of the season if they ain't gonna drop from the league?
