    Credit report question
This topic was brought up in a thread but i wanted to ask a specific question

I used annual credit report to view my credit report about 4 months ago. i had never done this before and wasnt smart enough to print the copies or dispute anything that was on there. Nothing was negative but on my report it still showed a car loan that had been paid off in September 2009. Now that im looking to buy a new car i want to make sure thats off my credit report so when i apply for a loan its not showing that i still have a 5 figure outstanding loan on my credit report.

How can i view my credit report since Ive already view it in the past 12 months? or is there a way i can just call each bureau and inquire about if that loan is still on my report and if it is just fax them documentation of the $0 balance statement i have?

    thanks

It is a tiring procedure to get in touch with them, but I am almost positive you can make it less annoying by doing it on the net. There is a way.

However, just telling the dealer the loan was paid off and it is a mistake would probably be enough. Just make sure they don't toss you into a higher interest percent if you are financing through the dealer. They will do this and not even tell you. If you have excellent credit you can demand the best interest rate. They have different rates for different people. Always compare the dealer with a few banks.

Doesn't your credit score go down each time you check it? or is that just a myth, I was told by a loan guy that it does a few years back.

In regards to aquiring credit yes. Ie applying for multiple loans and inquires. When your pulling your report for the sake of looking at it, i doubt it hurts your score

You can buy your creditreport from each of the 3 major credit reporting agencies for about $7.95 each I believe

                        www.transunion.com
                        www.experian.com
                        www.equifax.com

You can dispute any information online at time of purchase. It's fast and easy.

As far as your old car loan on there. you 100% want that to remain on your credit as a "paid off" loan.
A car finannce manager will be looking for past car loans to see if you paid.

                        Good luck.
my credit is JACKED UP, but I had a car loan from 1998 that was paid off/closed, I walked out of a Ford Dealer 3 days ago with a 2011 Mustang.

                        Good luck to you, sir

Call a local Mortgage Broker. Have him take an application, make up a scenario. Tell him you want a copy of the full tri-merge credit report for
                              your records.

On it will be contact information for the credit bureaus. Then when he tries to tell sell you a deal tell him sorry, you are moving out of the state.

Call the car loan company. Tell them you need a zero balance letter NOW.

Call the 3 bureaus, and fax them the zero balance letter. Should be off all 3 quick. Call another broker or however you want to get a new report in a few days, and make sure it is zeroed out.

Done and done, good to go. I deal with this shit all the time.

Guy, what do you not understand in the other thread i replied to? I guess you didn't get your free report from all three agencies, right? You could get it from each of them once a year.

If you pulled the free report from all 3, then you have to wait. If you pulled the free report from Transunion, for example, pull the free report from Equifax or the other. Problem solved.

The whole credit score is such a confusing process and such a scam. Even responsible people that only want to use credit for big important things(house, car) have to jump through hoops and play the game to try and get good score.

Guy, you couldn't be more incorrect. This is a soft pull, which isn't the same as an inquiry. Dumb, Dumb, Dumb, ..............Dumb.

I also heard checking credit score is bad. I can understand why, because usually when you need to look at your score its because you don't think its high enough

How can i view my credit report since Ive already view it in the past 12 months? or is there a way i can just call each bureau and inquire about if that loan is still on my report and if it is just fax them documentation of the $0 balance statement i have?

                                              thanks
You should only check each one every other 4 months and then you get the reports all year long

Be careful reading the above posts, while guys are trying to help they are 100% incorrect wrong in my instances.

First, checking your own credit has no effect on your score. Zero.

Secondly, be careful with the credit websites like truecredit.com that offer you to check your score unlimited for $x a month -- they use the Vantage score, not the FICO score. The Vantage score is a new credit score model that goes higher than 850 and is a money maker and useless. Always be sure you are pulling your FICO.

Thirdly, creditkarma.com pulls directly from the credit bureau's and is your credit score. It's correct.

Ok, when you are going through one of these other sites, how does the software know it's you so it doesn't whack your score? Anybody can put in your SS.

thats all BS about your score going down when you check it. I used to be in the car business, where people get this myth from is they will go to 10 car lots & those 10 lots will send their info to 10 banks, so thats a lot of inquiries in one day. That will affect your score very little. Pulling it once a month does nothing.

Everyone knows a fukin car salesman, just go to the dealership & get him to print you a copy
