went to Per Se in NYC in the columbus circle tower last year, about $180 a person or so if i remember correct and just OK.. id much rather spend $80 a person at mannys steakhouse in minneapolis or hit a ruths chris..
down here in south FL most places are 30-70 per person and TONS of great options, its tough not to eat out 4-5 times a week!

yeah gotta agree here. I enjoy fine meals (30-80 per person) but usually those $250 per person are a rip off and suck. My parents are in the restaurant business so I've eaten a lot of those top tier places. Hell Peter Luger's Steakhouse isn't even that much and its amazing. Probably mine would be a place called Douzo in Boston. Sushi, but ran up to about 80 per person. I'm also still in college so that money mattered a lot more than most of you.

$100 burger at McGuire's in Pensacola! That's the most expensive 'meal' that I paid for. Split the $1k sundae sprinkled in gold at Serendipity in NYC awhile back....was a celebratory thing...I don't recommend ever doing that again

most places I have been do not know how to properly finish a steak anyways. Every place ive been to cooks the steak too the choice of the customer then puts it right on a hot plate to be served and that is a big no no. You gotta let the residual heat from the steak finish the cooking process while steak sits covered with foil/pot lid of some kind for about 5-10 mins. That is how you get a juicy melt like butter in ya mouth steak.
Searing =/= locking in juices

I ate at Joel Robuchon's in the MGM last year and with wine my bill for 2 was @487, but it was worth every cent! You cannot imagine the flavors this man can come up with. People have been know to fly to his various restaurants so that they could just get his mashed potatoes!

Im agreeing that a $20 steak is good enough for me and I'll pocket the $130. The oriental food where they cook it in front of you is always delicious too

Some of you guys are saying you would much rather have a 20 dollar steak than a 200 dollar steak. I don't disagree but unless you have the palate for the finer foods you are throwing away your money. If you have been drinking two buck chuck your entire life and like it you probably could not tell the difference between a 30 dollar bottle of wine or a 3,000 dollar bottle of wine. So no sense in wasting your money on some expensive meal if you cannot tell the difference. I am not trying to brag because I probably couldn't either but I am just throwing it out there for you guys.

Nobu is excellent. Pricey but have never had a bad meal there and I've eaten at a few locations. Service is usually impeccable as well. Check it out if you ever get the chance!
