    Moderator Spider Passing

    I have some sad news to share.

    Spider has been suffering health issues for at least the last 6 months.

    He is a very private person so did not share a lot of information but had been in and out of hospital for months and had been undergoing chemotherapy.

    He continued his moderator work on a limited basis even when in hospital and was never out of contact for more than a day or two even when quite debilitated.

    In late July he told the moderator crew that his doctors said that they were forced to cease his chemo and wanted him to rest at home until stronger and able to continue.

    We have not heard from him since the beginning of August and he has not answered phone calls, emails or social media messages.

    Given how utterly reliable he has been over his years with SBR it is now at the point it is impossible to not fear the worst has happened.

    I sincerely hope that this message is premature but for now I feel that the time has come to say Vale Spider. It was an honor to have known you and thank you for all you did here at SBR.

    This is awful news.

    Spider was a nice guy and hard worker.

    I had a bad feeling when i saw a thread the other day that he hadn't logged on here in about a month.

    So sad, I considered him our Mod MVP as he did a little bit of everything. He was invaluable on contest grading and his detective skills were top-notch in nailing scammers. He will be sorely missed. Αναπαύσου εν ειρήνη

    He was such a positive presence. He offered Super Bowl squares every year.

    Not the kind of news any of us wanted to hear. Thanks Opti for letting us know what his situation was. Terribly sad to hear he was battling health issues.

    Spider was an incredible individual and unmatched in his efforts as a Moderator and organizer of all things related to contests, current info and yes LT, rooting out the scammers here on our forum.

    You could count on him to be accurate and keep track of everything. The guy was an excellent statistician and will be really missed around here. Upmost respect for the professionalism he showed to everyone.

    My heartfelt sympathy to his family and all who knew him.

    Rest easy fellow SBR brother and thanks.

    I can't believe we even had to make this thread. Us behind the scenes bonded even more this past year (which let's admit has been a bit of a shitshow) and Spider was happy for the distraction on here from what was going on with his health. I can't come to terms with it yet so I'm hoping he's on a long cruise trip to Alaska and will be back soon. If not, Vale Spidey... you were one of the good ones xo

    RIP Spider, he definitely didn’t like me as a poster because of my big irresponsible mouth sometimes, but he always remained professional with me & I respect that as a man. I’m not the same person I was two years ago when we had these issues.

    He was awesome and quick when tallying totals in all the contests. He never made a mistake that I saw in all these years.
