Not for me. I’ve never gotten money from a bank that I didn’t already pay taxes on or won’t have interest attached to it. Also I’ve never given a bank 1100 and comeback a few hours later and the bank gives me back 2100.

i dont know how they do it in Australia but these guys here who complain about tipping have two options....either tip and essentially decide on what the service/person should get or have the business decide how they can raise rates in certain areas to offset the cost of increasing that employees pay because people arent tipping.
Also if you dont tip in certain places and the expectation is that those employees will make money to compensate them with their wage and tips then you can expect the ones that are good at that job to leave pretty quick and be replaced with any idiot

on a big score, maybe a tip.

but on the day to day grind, tipping every play will evaporate your profits.

the margins are razor thin the way it is.

Only time I tip is if I hit a future or big golf win. I've thrown a dollar or two before if they actually helped me with something.

Had Scottie Scheffler at 45-1 that I bet 6+ months in advance of Masters and he ended up being like 12-1 before teeing off.

    I threw the girl a $20.

All the person at the window is doing is giving what you are owed, they had no part in how you made your money, much like a bank teller.

Go read my story from earlier in this thread. I never said I give an auto gratuity every time I cash a ticket. If I win over 1k or if I had a conversation with a ticket writer that helped me make my selection I tip them.

^^^ This is exactly what it feels like when I visit the US from a non-tipping culture.

It's fun and makes you feel good to hand around money.

The same people in the same jobs in Australia would look at you like you were insulting them as lower than you if you handed them a $5 cash tip.

I know I would not like it to be normal and everyday, but whilst on holidays it feels good.

As I said in my original post, there's no reason to tip on a cash transaction, like at a tellers window at the bank for instance.

I tip, and more than the acceptable, what is it now, 18% on food delivered to my table at a restaurant, food deliveries to the door, bartenders for a drink...

Even if the table service at the restaurant was poor, I'll leave 10%

Under no circumstance will I tip on a cash transaction, I draw the line there.
it's bad enough with those hidden fees for online transactions.

they need to get rid of the little jugs when you go to pick up food asking for a tip. fcuk you. i am picking up my own food and paying your prices. what the hell do you need a tip for? you just got a huge markup on the pizza i paid for. pay the 17 yr skinny guy behind the counter more money so he can buy clearasil.

    Interesting about Australia.

Australians work more hours per week than any other country correct?

38 hours with 4 weeks holidays, 2 weeks sick leave and 2 weeks toward long service leave after 10 years is "standard". But I do not know if that is more or less than others.

Picked up my dry cleaning the other day and there was a tip jar on the counter. Sucks if you make $12/hr but wow.

In most professional jobs a tip jar is prohibited because it is considered a bribe. Could you imagine the judge at the traffic court having a tip jar? Then whoever wants a better fine will fill it in with money.

If the guys/girls at the window get to know you and they see winning piles of cash on a regular basis....it doesn't hurt to dash them a few +hundos..... most of them at the sportsbook window don't make alot pre-hour and they really appreciate it ....if you want respect show them respect... its that simple...

Back in the day a $20 tip meant unlimited drink tickets all night long.

Now all you have to do is ask.

i could $100 if it is 5 figures and they are giving you the exact denominations you want. some will just give you $100's and make you take them. there are times i like getting $50's or even $20's.
