Ky, you're providing a good service. Just a few comments:

    1) One of the classic tout maneuvers was to manipulate the # they're graded against. Anyone who actively bets knows that a big key is getting DOWN at a good #. Beating the closer = BTCL value. Touts liberally will abuse this, making sure they're graded vs peak # (or even an imaginary #).

    2) There was one rule of touting that Feist/Root feasted on. Seek out the weakest hand in the customer pool. Treat them inhumanely and try to hoover the $$ in their wallet. If you don't do it, someone else will. Rinse and repeat w/ the next school of fish.

If I had an extra 40 minutes a day to track all of this other pics.. I think hed be doing much worse. Lately he’s been betting a lot of flat lines, avoiding the hook. Just in the last week I have heard him pick three pushes including A bet against SF FF on 0506

This is also why clowns like Lang are such a good fade, especially on things like football. They lock in the team they like and by Sunday, when released, the number on average is much worse for them = fade winna

Coin-flippers, for sure. In Teddy's case, I'd be surprised if he even kept pace w/ coin-flip. No lie, he's that square.

Funny story circulated about Cokin some years ago. Remember that SAT morning boiler-room shows? Sportsdesk and Proline?

Cokin always made a point of saying that he always personally bet every game he gave out. It was Dave's way of saying that he was legit.

Well, that's true, he did bet it. But the ticket-writers started leaking info that he was a $10 and $20 bettor. Literally, min-bet or just above it.

Dave didn't like that. So, he stopped betting local. Took his game online, to avoid the ridicule.
That show was actually well before its time - Now you have Daily Wager and Foxbet. Quite the cast of characters on Proline - Cokin, Feist, Root, Ness, and Chipper Chirimbus. The amazing thing is that I think all these guys are still active. As long as you've established a name and know how to market it, you are gold! Spoke to Root one time about the tout business and he admitted it's all about marketing, not really important if you can pick a winner.

Salud, Art. It's interesting, if nothing else.

I say that Stu Feiner created an industry out of thin air. I mean, it's the phoniest business ever. A guy in a suit TELLING YOU that he's an expert. If you believe it, you're the fish. Hook, line, and sinker.

This has been discussed on msg-boards for years. The idea of a "profitable" tout is pure fiction. Or very close to it.

I've seen some WINNING BETTORS that try to make the move to the tout side. Invariably, it doesn't go well. Start w/ the premise that these SHARPS can win on their own.

So, what's not to like? Well, the idea is that THEIR PORTFOLIO is going to mirror yours...and it's available for a (small) price. Compared to real investment markets, the sports-betting market is NOT big for MOST events.

Can you get down at the SENDOUT price for $$ AMOUNT that satisfies your hunger? Invariably, that answer is No. I've seen "good touts" give out plays...and the # moves at a blur, so that # was never really available TO YOU.

Think of the Coll Bask bettor, Right Angle Sports. Guy knew some things, seemed to win over time. Could his clients ever get down at the send-out #? No way. So, what good is the service? Not much, imho.

So both of them are exactly .500? You might as well just flip a coin to decide. I would rather pay for Seaweed and thomorino for their picks and fade them.

How cool would it be to roll in the "Vegas Sharp crew"? Marco, Cokes, Teddy Covers...

Polo, Cokin is an interesting case study. Guy knows a lot.

Going back in time, I know his Coll FB GOY was a net-winner over time. I know that he ran a very good win% on that play.

Does he play too many games? I think even Dave would (candidly) admit that.

That's my point. Even by Dave's admission, he's not a good NFL capper. But he still sells it.

Dave's expertise probably is limited to Coll FB/Bask, NHL, and MLB.

Polo, here is my point. Think about how one MIGHT create an edge vs a betting mkt:

*NFL brings in a TON of betting $$. Oddsmaker is motivated to post a good 2-way line.

If you follow Cokes over time, I think he's mostly well-known as a College bettor, FB and Bask. Listen to him talk about his Coll Bask selections. Almost always, it's an under-the-radar game. Cokes calls it a game that no one cares about.

That's where u MIGHT find a line that's off. A game where the information hasn't been baked into the line.
