DiNucci out as QB in Dallas

Careful betting here...no starter named for Dal

They do have Blake Bell who was a successful wildcat qb in college but he might be to slow to do it in NFL.

It doesn't matter who starts for the Cowboys, the Steelers are too much for them. I am guessing Garret Gilbert?

If they don't cover this number will be only team to ever start 0-9 ATS.

They have work to do, and 2-14 might not get it done:

One of the best non-QB fill-in performances of all-time was Matte playing QB for the Colts. Almost beat the Packers in championship game. And honestly, they won...the late FG was incorrectly called good.

The history is there for single games, and especially without the pressure of this not being a championship game. Cowboys have nothing to lose, and actually the best thing is for them is to tank the season away. But Tony Pollard is a hell of an athlete. He has never played Qb in high school or at Memphis, but he can surely create problems and the Cowboys have good receivers so they could get creative with the pass game. Just for one day

I keep hearing Cooper Rush from the practice squad...I think I remember watching him in preseason the last two years and he actually looked decent and competent...and he had a great career at Central Michigan...At the very least, he should be an improvement over DiNucci.

They were conservative. Most of DiNucci's throws were quick outs or crossers where the onus was on the receivers to pick up yards after catch. When he needed to stretch the field he looked completely uncomfortable. Pretty hard to call plays when you have to ignore 80% of the playbook.

I didn't see it that way. They called a lot of dumb gimmick plays that lost yards and put him in tough situations. They should have run the ball more in the 1st half. Used backs and tight ends more. I think I saw one screen the entire game at the very end

They called some gimmicks in an attempt to manufacture chunk plays... What's the alternative, have DiNucci drop back and either get sacked or throw a duck into coverage? It's just not realistic to expect to methodically go down the field with 3 and 4 yard gains without suffering a setback at some point in the drive, especially when you only have 2 original starters on the offensive line. They were fortunate to get some Zuerlein bombs in the first half, as well as some actual resistance from the Cowboys defense or they would have been forced to start pressing with DiNucci much earlier.

    naw

they were up 9-7 in the 2nd half, driving to the philly 30

they had called about 6 stright run plays for 3 first downs. philly D was gassed and about to give up a rushing TD

then that genius kellen moore calls another trick play for a 13 yd loss. ends up in a missed fg

Okay and likewise Cowboys were driving to possibly take the lead (down 15-9) in the 4th quarter and called a "conventional" play when DiNucci got pancaked and it resulted in a scoop and score the other way. The gimmick plays that didn't work weren't anymore detrimental to the team than the conventional plays that didn't work.

Dinucci threw the ball 40 times

Playcalling was terrible in more ways than one end of story. Elliot should have touched the ball at least 30 times

And they would have lost the game. End of story. Teams don't play to cover the spread.
