500 big blinds started this tournament

    45minutes into it, nothing happened

why? because so many big blinds started it, it did not matter

so at level 5 we were at 75/150

thats basically when the tournament started...with less than 100 big blinds

cant blame sbr...everyone says this is the best thing to do

and im showing you exactly why it isnt worth it

    there is no more "playability"

what do you think would happen with a 50k starting stack?

sure, you would then play into the 3rd hour

but the first two hours would just be bunched up

if you started with 100k, the first 3 hours would be bunched up

    and so on

what was the best starting stack, don't say 1500 or 1000, then it becomes a luck fest

    1500 (75 big blinds)

almost 2x the time at each level

and raise stakes slightly with each person knocked out

im sure simulations can be done to figure out the perfect way to combine those two and stay around 20-50 big blinds for most of the tournament

yah that would be better with increased blind time but if blinds are going to stay 8 mins better to have more chips it's going to get exciting soon

its going to be the exact same as it wouldve been with 1500 starting stacks...except it wouldve happened 45minutes earlier

nothing has changed when you change the starting stack to 500 big blinds..just delayed the time when it happens

it's a little better this way still not perfect, increase blinds time is the way to go

I've always thought it would be a cool system to instead of having blinds go up based on time or # of hands played, for them to go up based on how many players are left. That is, when you get down to 12 players, they go up, but do not go up again until you reach 8 players no matter how long it takes, and so on like that (at least in the late stages). By doing that they could ensure that the average stack in the tournament is always a reasonable amount, say at least 20 BBs. Unfortunately never seen anything like that done.

    i just suggested that

but you also need a time increase

too many huge nits that have too much time on their hands (could include me, but too impatient to fold every hand)

this isn't a normal tournament it's just finish in top 7 alot different strategy than trying to win, if you had a huge chip stack here with pocket aces u could fold them pre flop with like 10 people left

Yes, that's probably why they don't do it, it would make scheduling extremely tough since the amount of time a tournament would last would be way more variable. And that would obviously not be good for business. Shame though, as when a tournament is reduced to every player having <10 BBs which generally is what happens, pretty much totally takes the skill out of it.

I thought it was an April Fools joke, allowing a point stiff to register for the qualifier. Good to see this broke dikk is proud of his "silliness" & pathetic play. Donkey just as ignorant as you, by claiming my call was bad when I was ahead. Not surprising the Donkey stiff hasn't paid you the 50 pt Waves bounty he offered. All I can do is get my chips in ahead, which is par for the Waves course.

Definitely a roller coaster ride. Thought I was about to earn the nickname “double bubble” when 3 all ins in front of me survived. But luckily my BB was KQ and I flopped two pair.

Loved the structure. The tournament shouldn't take more than a couple of hours, not the satellite. Would expect the same blind levels but 10 or 12 minutes to move up instead of 8 we just had.

    That's the plan, right SBR?

Had KQ clubs that hand you won but felt it was too risky to call. Then KQ flopped!
