Jets looked ok in game 1, but that rookie QB should shimmy at times, hard to come in as a rook and play like a veteran QB for the entire season...

Oh and the Giants suck and so do the Cowboys.. Both should be bottom dwellers in that division this season....

Tony ? gurley wasn’t a factor? - Rams O-line took over in the 2nd half and open enormous holes- Goff was not touch

Rams looked tough. Goff threw some horrible passes though in the red zone and was lucky he was not picked a couple of times against the Raiders..

Goff needs to clean up that part of his game.. Rams didn't use Gurley enough either in that game I thought..

How did we get into Monday's night game ?

I gave you stats from last years Jag/Rams game. it was the other game that the Jags gave up over 100 yards rushing

Goff is good when everything is going perfect- the second there’s pressure and he has 2 change direction - he blows

But from a HANDICAPPING standpoint, we should rate run defense performance for Week 1 Excellent despite what box score says. Forget the 5.0 YPC and focus on % of successful runs.

I just checked, Giants had THREE rushes of four yards or more out of 23 carries. Jax defense is just fine.

so if a RB runs for let's say 200 yards in a game on 23 carries , 2 of the 23 went for 50+ yards we shouldn't count them because his other yardage was a lot lower ?
wouldn't that be blown coverage , missed tackle(s), sloppy playing, etc.

you do have to remember his 68 yard run was for a TD
    I just can't overlook that.

again, not taking anything away from the Jags D, but they weren't lights out

I get it, I really do. and I watch every game played that day. I always go back and watch the replays of all NFL games

Think of this, if the Jags didn't get a pick6 Off the deflection, what would the score be ?

You can't go by that one play, because they could get those 7 points somewhere else. Just like you can't say because there was ONE big running play
    and you can't count it.

again, I'm not taking away anything from the Jags, just giving a little more credit to the Giants

    overall, Yes
but my statement was that i wasn't that impressed because they still allowed over 100 yards rushing. something they did only Twice last season including the playoffs.

I truly believe the Jags will not miss a beat, they just need to step up their game.

and if it was Peyton behind center Sunday instead of Eli, the Giants could have won that game.

Giants had an opportunity with eli to win. I also think its proven peyton was the better overall qb. Id take eli in a big game over peyton all day

Did you even see Post #54? That should dispel all doubts about Jax defensive performance vs. the run. Successful run % is one of the best stats to use when trying to predict future performance. To use a baseball analogy, successful run % would be xFIP and YPC would be ERA. Not hard to figure out which one is predictive and which one is descriptive.

    unfortunately this is true.
By the time Peyton was able to get his next SB ring, he should have been done and finished with.
even in his first win his stats were nothing to write home about.

Eli on the other hand was always good in the big game.

My problem is that I believe he is fading since last season and just about the time he should pull a "Peyton" and hang it up.
I'm probably wrong and he will be ok this season, but he's only as good with what he has around him, and this is one of his best offenses
so either he goes out there and show me I'm wrong, or you won't see him next season with the NYG.

Nice way to twist my words. What you need to remember is Successful run % is light years more important than raw YPC when predicting the future, and this game illustrated that perfectly. Remember, everyone's goal is to pick winners and it is important to now what stats are important and what noise to filter out.

Tony is a tough out - but you ain’t winning this argument - that Barkley touchdown came very late - I’m guessing Jagz defense was caught off guard - OBJ was worthless - another reason 2 not pay WR

I wouldn't judge eli on last year.

No running game, OBJ, Flowers couldn't block me.

This year imo will show if he should hang it up, or play for another 2-3 years. we will see

They need to get rid of Flowers and this offense will be putting up 20+ points a game
