Every 12 to 25 year old has to have $150-$250 worth pair of basketball shoes that cost $10 to make. I see this every day with my own eyes.

In baseball if you bat 220, 71 RBIs and 16 homers you make 10 million a year

Question 3. Doesn't this Crazy Money Ruin the Integrity of the Sport? What's the incentive to Bust Your ass when you know you Have a Guaranteed 5 Years $150 million Win Lose Or Draw No Matter What. Its Like WTF!!
There is No Way These Jerks deserve that kind of Money. How do these teams turn a Profit?? Are us fans really That Dumb??
You sound very bitter??? We're talking about the 250 best players on the PLANET. What should they make? The salaries are not even close to what some of these guys make with shoe contracts and commercials. James Harden's shoe contract is $200 million. His NBA salary is $117 million over 4 years. How can Adidas pay him that type of money? They sell a hell a lot of shoes. Michael Jordan made Nike the brand it is today. BILLIONS of dollars.

Entertainers have always made a shit load of money. The cast of Friends made $1 million an episode EACH. That's $6 million a week the network was paying them. Why? Because the networks make a shitload more with subs and commercial ads. I use to live next to Carrot Tops manager. She told me that he was making $50 million a year. WHAT? AT$T commercials and Vegas show.

Have you tried to buy season tickets to an NBA team? Here in Houston, a quality seat will cost you $50k a season. You then need 2 seats, so we're talking $100k a season. 300 of those subscriptions will easily pay James Harden's salary. The Toyota Center holds 18,000. Trust me, they can afford it. We're not even talking about the BILLIONS in TV revenue.

No one cares about Durant. No one respects him either. He is taking less now to cash it big after. State will get some rings but then will go into orbit.

It's mind boggling when you compare salaries from the NBA.... next to the NHL.

I would quit playing hockey immediately.

Why would you risk your life getting smashed into the boards 82 games a year... for a NHL minimum salary?? I wouldn't.

Pretty sure all of the people buying Durant sneakers and jerseys care about him and respect him. He will go down as an all time top 10 player when he calls it a career. He will have rings, mvps and a hell of a lot of money put away too.

    Your jealousy is almost comical.

Even at max salary, LeBron is underpaid. A conservative estimate is he is worth 65 mil per season to any team.

It's all a part of the revenue sharing agreement the NBA owners have with it's players. The NFL has screwed it's players because the players union is weak and disjointed. The NFL needs guaranteed contracts much more than any other sport but the Union sucks. You are mistaken if you think players in the NBA don't bust their ass. There is ALWAYS someone waiting to take your place. You're looking at the few elite players in the league but many more are trying their best to make most rosters. They can't slack off. Plus why care? The money has already been agreed on. The players split up a big pie among other players button the owners split up their part with a lot less other owners. So for every Harden, the owners are making 10 times that amount. I wouldn't shed a tear for any owner. They are not going broke anytime soon.

    -------------------------------------------
The new deal will keep in place the existing “band” of the players’ share of Basketball Related Income between 49 and 51 percent. The union was willing to accept this because BRI has risen from $4 billion to an estimated $8 billion in the next couple of years, in part due to the $24 billion television contract that has commenced between the league and its national partners, ABC/ESPN and Turner (Turner Sports operates NBA.com). NBA players will also get a larger percentage of revenue streams such as arena signage, according to sources.

    Mac has the answer!!!

Union deal here is just over 50% of gross revenue

NBA has a player max, and subsequently a team minimum

    NBA rookie obligations are minimal

Union has forced the owners to pay idiots to ride the bench many millions more than some starting all pro FB players

All comes down to qualifying revenue generated by the league, and if theres a player maximum deal in CBA...... if so, then your middle class will rise!

Think of the oppressive tax rate thru the 60s, when it ranged upwards of 92%....the parallel being that a high rate of sharing fuels the middle class (the non stars) and benefits the country (the league), when in reality its merely wealth redistribution to guys who don't deserve it or add to the value of the league based on a socialist concept (union).

If Lebron had a fukkin brain he'd get 10 buds together, go start a non union league, and make $1billion per year himself instead of $30mm.

The sad truth is that the NBA does much better with super teams versus parity all across the league. People will tune in to watch GSW, even though they already know the outcome. They like to see history. Only a handful of teams have ever won a title. The NBA wants to keep it that way. They love GS breaking record wins. They are loving Lebron in LA. Plus the resergence of the Celtics. The NBA is in hog heaven with all time ratings and international expansion down the road. The stars are the face of the league. The players are at the front of these franchises, not the back like the NFL and everybody is prospering. The NBA is so far ahead of the NFL and gainING ground. The NFL needs new leadership. It's old and stagnant and resist change.
