Actually, this can be part of it. Trying to nail down the individual machine is much more difficult. Also, you don't always have to hit the progressive, the machines will pay out other ways as well. One real benefit is that you can earn a lot of points on the card while churning at the machine.

Watching someone feed the machine is some serious old school slot thinking, but if you are seeing the hands that are coming, then I don't know. Trying to turn a cold machine hot is a tough one.

That said, I can't tell you the number of times I've seen some old lady follow someone who just "fed the machine" and hit something right away.

I think fishhead had some sort of a handheld meter I don’t know exactly But he got an edge by watching people play machines And knowing when to attack

I was in Vegas this weekend. Talked to a pit guy at MGM who said he played only vp at MGM properties and was a lifetime winner.

fishhead is just waiting for someone to leave a progressive slot, or a progressive royal on video poker, that is in a +ev situation

tough way to make an easy living... could be sitting there all night while they keep pulling money out of their pocket or they sit there for another 1/2 hour after they're broke waiting for their old fart husband to come back from taking a long shit

A guy working the pit wouldn't know jack shit about a hl slot player though. The suits walking around in the pits are middle mgmt at best. Higher end players play everywhere unless they have been 86d from a place or owe money to a casino for markers. The screenshot sent to me today of his play at Caesars is fairly recent and very small. He played a lot at the Rio in 14/15 and then moved over to Caesars in 16.

I'm sure the floor sup thought he was giving out good info but the truth is NO video poker players are lifetime winners unless they hit a $100 royal flush and never played again. Any that say otherwise are full of shit or consider getting a beer cooler or bbq tool set as freebie to be the same as cash. If a video poker player is beating the casinos on a regular basis they get backed off. Either via no offers or incentives to come in which usually runs them off or a permanent trespass. The only 2 names I can think of that were lifetime video poker winners are Houston Ma and Bill Granoff. Ma was a brilliant 21 player and became a very good vp player who played virtually perfect strategy and even if the cards didn't work out for him on a particular trip he would get anywhere from 5-15k in airfare from Asian marketing depending on his theo anytime he came in to play. The problem with that was he was a domestic player from Newport Beach and should have been given approx $500 for airfare. Ended up being overcomped and became unprofitable for the casinos. Granoff is Fishhead's idol. A comp chaser who leveraged the freebies with solid strategy. He supplemented years of losing by finding suckers to pay him for lessons on vp and comp chasing. He ended up getting restricted from most places not so much for winning but just general pain in the ass.

    No clue.

The stuff I saw had him as a $1-$5 vp player who occasionally dabbled at the $10-$25 denoms. The jackpot screenshots I saw were all in the $1200-$4000 range with 2 of more than $20,000. Mind you that was over a 2 year span with visits seeming to occur every month. Just off coin in minus coin out and jps the numbers paint a guy who lost over time. Nothing extreme if he had a reasonably sized bankroll for those denoms.

I'm trying to figure out why he would plan an attack like this, doesn't seem like the type, seems like the type who enjoyed gambling, had money, had a GF had a house, why go on a suicide mission?

It surprised me too. I didn't interrogate. He said they looked him up. I asked if he played any tables and he said no.

Maybe he had terminal brain cancer and was angry at the world. Maybe he was a selfish asshole and wanted to die in infamy. Who knows? We're likely never going to know.

Video Poker in Vegas now getting closely looked at because of shooter

It could hurt the comps and payout structure

    They might change the game

this one line from the article sums it up for me:

He was there to play, not to party.

you gotta be there to do both, otherwise your cork will become to tight, and ready to blow.....

From a post I made years ago regarding Fishhead's glamorous life as a VP pro.....

    Fishhead
& Herbie were tied up all day yesterday.

I saw where Fish posted last night that there was like a 6 hour wait in line at Sam's Town for all their VIP players to receive a free Sam's Town BBQ utensils set after filling up their stamp card.

He then met up with Herbie, where they went straight to Excalibur to fill up on cheese & crackers and enjoy a complimentary filtered water in their VIP lounge. This is where Fish also sharply took advantage of the free wifi to list the earlier mentioned BBQ utensils set on several low level internet swap sites. (he claims ebays exorbitant fees are -EV for advantage players.)

On the way out, Herbie led Fish on a insider tour of the Excaliburs vast hallways, where there was more than enough decadent desserts sitting on abandoned room service trays. These 2 pros filled their bellies, as well as their foil lined pockets (another sharps move), with the remnants of numerous high dollar, scrumptious desserts!

After all that, there simply wasn't time for much else. All part of the glamorous life of a Vegas Pro!

    Living the dream....
