What kind of Rewards card is in your wallet?

Anybody use CC around here? I'm looking to purchase stuff and collect Air Flight Miles. What's the story here? Where are all the big timers?

I have 2 of them. I've always paid off the full balance each month and never paid interest. I'd recommend everyone take advantage of all cards that have no annual fee as long as you pay off your entire balance each month. It's +EV. There's really no doubt about it. Plus, it really doesn't hurt your credit rating having them. My score is 843.

We got a Network Engineer who hasn't paid for a vacation trip in last 5 years. He prefers this card and the United alliance. I don't travel or use a CC much so need for one. BOL

I'm looking into Capital One Venture and the link provided above from KnockEmDown. I get paid enough to pay off a large bill at once. Most of these places just don't give the interest amount up front.

Yeeeeah, no plans on that anytime soon. In federal default, or some shit from school. All I have to do is pay 5 bucks for 10 months as basically a good faith gesture. I was too damn lazy to print the email, and send it back. CCs are a whole other story. I'm not the smartest fool around.

Capital One seems to be a good choice though. The rewards look solid, and legit.

If your looking for airline miles there are a couple good ones. Chase sapphire is the one I use the most and also have Starwood preferred guest from AMEX. Starwood is hotel but transfers to a number of airlines. My suggestion would be to figure out what airline you want the miles on and then pick a card because so many cards are aligned to certain airlines.

Depending on your monthly spend you can easily fund entire vacations every year and if you really are savvy, the sign up bonuses are where the biggest bang is so each year pick a new card and get the bonus. Google the points guy and flyer talk - both sites with a ton of info on this stuff

    Station Casino rewards cards.
I bring like, at least with me when I bet horses.
Because, they get lost underneath all those racing forms that I use-so when I'm in a hurry to place a bet, I got a card lieing around.
I have racked up a shit load of points at the stations, betting horses.

Racked up 11k in points yesterday betting horses(8 hours)
Cost me 3500 points to eat at the buffet for free.

Betting horses is "King" to earning points-even better than slots.

Yes I do use that one Rudy, but I also have a few more depending on what perks it suits me. The best one for me is the AMEX platinum as I book all my business travel with it and I get 5x the points for doing so.

Only 2 cards you'll ever need.

    1. Barclays Rewards Card - 2% back at gas stations, electric/gas company bill, cable bill, cell bill. 1% Back anything not listed.

    2. Capital One Quicksilver Card - 1.5% back on everything

    Everything else is meaningless.

Redeeming is quick and simple.... no runarounds.

Haven't checked in a year or so.... but aren't they only giving 1% back? Or have they increased it?

Also, some stores may not accept Discover or AMEX. It sucks when you're trying to buy something and it's not honored.

Airline miles are fine but getting 2% back on every penny spent is a great deal.

Citi Double Cash ********** does exactly that.

Not just this, or that, but everything.

    No limits.

1% when you buy, 1% when you pay it off.

    *************** into your bank account.

    No fees.

Obviously the key is to ALWAYS pay it in full.

If you cannot, don't use it.

If you can, it's a winner.

    Hope that helps.

Citi Double Cash **, I also have a Barclay Arrival ** & Southwest **** card... have them on auto pay twice a month. Through my business I put about 10k on the three of them throughout each month. I used to only pay once a month but the large balances would effect my credit rating quite often so I just started paying twice a month. I have so many miles that I've actually taken the Barclay and Southwest cards off a lot of my utility and vendor payments and just use the Citi Double Cash... it's 2% and at this point I'd rather have the money back rather than rack up more miles it will take me years to use. I use double cash for everything now except the Southwest card which I use at Costco. Southwest miles are great, I have around 400k and haven't paid for a flight to Vegas in years. Flights usually cost me about 8k round trip if I wait for their Wanna Get Away rates.

I have an Amex Gold I used to use for Costco but the rewards just aren't that great.

Yeah, Citi Double Cash is the best value, I can cash in my 'miles' for $ with my other cards but the conversion rate is horrible, I'd rather just sit on them until I can use them for travel.

Capital One Venture or Quicksilver and their 1.5% can suck it, and so can Sammy L. Citi 2% cash back on everything and no annual fee. I don't think it gets any better than that. I always wanted to rack up miles but now that I have a bunch of them I realize I can just earn cash back and use that towards travel or anything else I want. Of course you can't carry a balance, that just defeats the purpose... but if you have any semblance of self-control just stop using your ATM card and start using a CC and have it on autopay every month from your bank account. Same damn thing but you earn miles or cash back.
