    3% back at grocery stores
2% back at department stores and gas stations
    1% everywhere else

    Wells Fargo VSA Signature
    1% back everywhere
This one's good because I can pay my rent online without any fees, about $10 a month every month in rewards right there

Both cards have zero annual fees. i've never used my debit card, all my bills and expenditures are put on these cards. I usually pay the balance off every week or immediately after I use one to pay a bill. Probably haven't paid interest on a card since 2012. Redeemed $125 of my cash back this year, sitting on just over $500 on the two right now. Literal free money.

450 annual fee... fuk that. For hardcore travel and if you're dropping 4-5k a month it's probably worth it. Amex categories is a bitch, some register for the x2 or x3 and others don't. Just give me 2% back and I don't have to babysit my statement to see if I got the proper bonus applied. You can get the Costco **** and get 4% on gas 3% on restaraunts. Plus 2% at Costco which stacks with the 2% cash back for executive members if you are one.

Works if you're already a Costco member, I wouldn't benefit from being one myself.

I like option #2, but are there hidden fees? (Annual?) and what's the interest rate?

Interest rate depends on your score like most cards will do. Min rate is 13.24%, no annual fee though. Looks pretty solid actually. I have a Citi Diamond Preferred that does nothing for me, I never use it. Might actually look at getting that one.

I've looked into trying to pay my mortgage with a card to earn points that way, but I don't think this is possible. I've read on the internet people trying to run this scam to rack in points:

                Pay mortgage with card.
Use another card to pay off the card that you used to pay the mortgage
Then pay off the 2nd card directly from your bank account.

You'd essentially be racking up double points doing this, but I don't think any cards allow you to pay off big ticket recurring items.

                            1. Barclays Rewards Card has no annual fee. Just like a poster noted above.... interest rates depend on your credit score etc.

                            2. Capital One Quicksilver has 2 versions.... 1 with an annual fee... typically someone who has a poor credit score.... and one without an annual fee. Go to the website and check it out.

Both extremely valuable. I spent so much money one year on things for my house.... with all my rewards.... I saved like $608.00 using my cards. Crazy.

Someone mentioned airline rewards? I don't see an advantage to that. Because.... it's up to you to find the discounts.... one airlines might be extremely cheaper for a flight... but you're stuck with 1 airlines based on a rewards card... That would suck.

Capital One also offers you 0% for 6 months when you apply. Could be between 6-10 months. It depends on when you apply.

So far the Venture looks good for travel miles: Unlimited 1.25 miles per dollar on every purchase. Plus, earn 20,000 bonus miles once you spend $1,000 on purchases within the first 3 month. No annual fees.

And then also Chase Freedom or Discover It. Both with no annual fees and a one time cash back bonus of $150 dollars when $500 is spent within the first 3 months.

                                    What does PT think?
