MetaTrader is just a platform, that is being used by a ton of brokers out there. Kind of like Windows OS on PCs.

MetaTrader4 is the most common one.

Seaweed any broker that works with Canadian accts has a 30-day demo that you can try out.

Just search for Trading demo accounts. There's a bunch of them out there. I think most of the popular outlets have dummy accounts as well. My best advice is to put a little bit of money in an account and play. You really won't get a good handle on it until you play with real money. Some sites have good platforms where you can basically cut your losses so that you can only lose a set amount. It's just like gambling... BOL

Yeah you can download MT4 from most brokers and demo it.

This software is licensed to foreign exchange brokers who then provide it to their clients for free. The reason why this platform is so popular is because it's highly customizable.

Many sites/companies that I use, you can't use. US and CAN has the worst restrictions & limitations in the world as far as the trading currency goes.
Most Americans, who wants to get the same type of accounts and perks that Europeans get, trade offshore with companies from Panama and Cyprus.

If you just want to practice on the demo acct. go to https://www.fxcm.com or https://www.oanda.com

Yeah babypips is a cool site...I've been reading that forum for about 5 years now. Never posted a thing, but did gather a lot of useful info over the years.

    I think forex.com accepts Americans

Forex trading is not big in United States any longer for retail investors most of the volume is on the futures exchange CME

    Penny wide spreads

It does accept Americans with a 1:50 leverage...which is a joke. I get 1:400 and 1:500 from Brokers in EU.

Sasha years ago I think you used to get 800 to 1 leverage but now a lot of volatility and have cut these amounts a lot and I see they adjust even lower amounts when big news brewing .

I think election day in around that time leverage will be cut

Yeah Coach, right before the 2008 crisis, the standard leverage for Americans and Canadians was right around 1:400 - 1:600 levels.

With 1:50 you need to have a minimum of 50K on your account, if you trade standard lots....otherwise you're just wasting your time.

Yeah CFDs are very popular nowadays...probably because it's very easy to learn how to trade them. Forex is a lot more complex.
